Meet Mrs Glory Shode she is a retired teacher who served for 33 years. She used her entire gratuity to start building a small 2-bedroom in Ibadan which she couldn't complete.
Now as their rent has expired she and her daughter are at risk of becoming homeless.

I must make special mention of Kaduna, where I commissioned their CNG mass transit programme under Governor Uba Sani @ubasanius last year.

100 CNG-powered buses are providing free transportation on major routes across the State. In their first year of operation alone, the buses carried about 3.2 million passengers, saving commuters more than ₦3.5 billion in transport costs.

This is more of what we need to see at the subnational level.

The Federal Government under our administration is ready to support the subnationals and our citizens in this regard.

On August 27, I met with the Governors of our 36 States, and we agreed on a clear objective that from October 1, more Nigerians should begin to see measurable reductions in transportation costs.

An implementation committee for the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme was subsequently established under the auspices of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum @NGFSecretariat, chaired by the Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq @RealAARahman.

I am aware of the considerable work already underway by the committee, PI-CNG & EV, the States, and other critical stakeholders to identify priority transport corridors, determine appropriate interventions, and put the necessary arrangements in place.

This work has become even more urgent in the face of the current global energy crisis.

She did not start as an officer. She started as a recruit in Depot Zaria. 21 Regular Recruits Intake. Nigerian Army Medical Corps, January 1986. Rose to Warrant Officer. Then Executive Commission, Lieutenant, 2002.

In 2018 she became the first Executive Commission officer decorated Lieutenant Colonel. She was also the first commander of the Nigerian Army Women Corps.

In Maiduguri she worked out of 7 Division Hospital - morale, mental health, the unglamorous work beside the troops.

She gave Thirty-five years in service and Retired in 2021. The uniform left. The example did not.
