Then they ask us “What will you do about it?”
But when we remind them, that they too are mortal, and that pain has a way of returning to its source, they suddenly remember the language of ‘morality’.
Go and preach that fake morality to Yasin Kawuma’s mother.
Preach it to the children of Johnbosco Kibalama., Eddy Mutwe or Waiswa Mufumbiro.
Preach it to the family of John Ddamulira and to the countless other victims of the Museveni family.
Don’t try to weaponize ‘morality’ to shield injustice and brutality.
It won’t work with this generation!
Yes, we believe in morality, but silence in the face of injustice is not morality. It is complicity, it is hypocrisy!

Former Kira Municipality Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, has launched a sharp critique of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), accusing him of building a party centered around his personality rather than strengthening it as a lasting institution.

Speaking during an appearance on NBS Television, Ssemujju, who lost his parliamentary seat to NUP's George Musisi in the most recent election, argued that Bobi Wine's rise to political prominence was largely unexpected, even to Bobi Wine himself. According to Ssemujju, while Bobi Wine possesses undeniable popularity and mass appeal, popularity alone should not be confused with the managerial skills required to run a political party or govern a country. It is a criticism that has generated considerable debate, but one that I fundamentally disagree with.

First, Bobi Wine's political journey itself challenges the notion that he lacks organizational or leadership ability. Transforming a social movement into one of the most formidable opposition forces in Uganda's modern political history required far more than popularity. It demanded strategy, mobilization, communication, resilience, and the ability to inspire thousands of people across the country.

Secondly, history is filled with leaders who emerged from unconventional backgrounds and were initially dismissed as lacking the credentials or experience to lead. Leadership is not determined solely by one's profession, academic qualifications, or social status. It is often measured by the ability to inspire confidence, build teams, navigate challenges, and unite people behind a common vision.

Moreover, the growth and national reach of NUP suggest that the party has evolved beyond a single personality. While Bobi Wine remains its most recognizable figure, the party has produced numerous elected leaders and established structures that continue to shape Uganda's political conversation.

For many supporters, Bobi Wine's rise is not evidence of managerial weakness but proof that leadership can emerge from outside traditional political circles. His success reflects an ability to connect with ordinary citizens and transform that connection into a political movement capable of challenging entrenched power.

Whether one agrees with Bobi Wine or not, reducing his political achievements to mere popularity overlooks the organizational work and political strategy that have brought him and his party to their current position.
