📲💥¿ Cómo los teléfonos sabían que aproximaba un terremoto? Así funcionan las alertas sísmicas móviles:

Debido al terremoto en Venezuela, muchas personas reportaron que sus teléfonos Android emitieron una alerta sonora segundos antes de que la tierra empezara a sacudirse. ¿Cómo es posible que Google o aplicaciones como Sismo Detector sepan que viene un sismo?

Los teléfonos inteligentes📱 contienen un componente interno llamado acelerómetro, que es el sensor que detecta cuándo la pantalla gira o cuándo caminas. Este sensor es tan sensible que también puede registrar las vibraciones de las ondas sísmicas de la tierra.🌎

Cuando se produce un sismo💥, los teléfonos más cercanos al epicentro detectan las Ondas P de inmediato. El teléfono envía esa información a la velocidad de la luz a los servidores de Google🛜 o a través de internet.

Si un solo teléfono se mueve, el sistema lo ignora📉 (puede ser que a alguien se le cayó el celular). Pero si miles de teléfonos en la misma zona detectan la misma vibración exactamente al mismo tiempo📈, los servidores de Google calculan al instante el epicentro y la magnitud del terremoto. En milisegundos, el sistema envía una señal de alerta🚨 a los teléfonos de las ciudades vecinas hacia donde viaja el sismo.
Como el internet viaja mucho más rápido🚀 que las destructivas Ondas S por la tierra, la alerta llega a tu pantalla segundos antes de que sientas el fuerte sacudimiento.

Esos valiosos segundos de ventaja no son para entrar en pánico, sino para ejecutar un plan de acción inmediato.

• No corras a ciegas: El movimiento del suelo te puede hacer caer. Mantén la calma.
• ⁠Agáchate, Cúbrete y Sujétate: Busca refugio de inmediato bajo una mesa fuerte o escritorio resistente para protegerte de objetos que puedan caer (como lámparas, ventanas o mampostería). Si no hay muebles cerca, cúbrete la cabeza con los brazos en una esquina interior del lugar.
• ⁠Aléjate del peligro: Mantente lejos de ventanas, espejos, vitrinas y paredes exteriores.
