Forgive me for still having an Asian Games hangover, but as I start this week, one story from the Games keeps coming back to me.
Sujeet Kalkal was 9-2 down with less than a minute & a half left.
Most of us have an inner voice that does the maths at a moment like this.
I certainly admit to having such a voice.
It assesses the odds and tells us when the rational thing is to accept defeat.
Sujeet clearly has another voice. One that says: Not yet.
He kept going. 9-2 became 10-9. And an Asian Games gold.
The lesson goes well beyond the wrestling mat.
When I look back, I realise that some of my key successes in business came when I listened to my other voice that fought the rational one and simply refused to throw in the towel.
There are times to listen to reason. And there are times to tell it to wait.
It ain’t over till it’s over.

With changing weather patterns, farming strategies must also adapt. During an El Niño phase, rainfall may be lower than normal or irregular. However, selecting the right crops and the right cotton hybrid can help farmers achieve better productivity and profitability.

The perfect video to view on Holi…
Because the colours of India spring up in many different ways & surprise us.
Chillis laid out for drying create an amazingly beautiful tapestry when seen from above.
This is Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh which alone has a share of 15% in India’s chilli production.
Can, & should AP turn this seasonal crop into a tourist attraction?
It’s a winter harvest so the timing is right.
I’ve never been, but I suspect the problem is that the beauty of the patterns may not be visible at ground level.
Balloon rides?
Curate performances of local music and dance at that time & create a festival?
Other ideas?
I know many will feel that it should be left free of potentially disruptive tourists. But that overlooks the opportunity for the local farmers and communities to supplement their incomes.

For most of her life, Yogeshwari Selvam had never even heard of IIT.
Her father runs a small tea stall. Her mother works at a fireworks factory. Finances were tight. Dreams? Even tighter.
But one chance session in Class XII introduced her to the world of JEE Advanced. That was all it took.
From that point, Yogeshwari set her sights on the skies quite literally. She dreamed of aerospace engineering. What followed was a story of discipline, sacrifice, and quiet resilience.
No private coaching. Just 40 days of special training after her board exams. Until then, she had studied entirely in Tamil medium. She taught herself enough English along the way to crack one of India’s toughest entrance exams on her first attempt.
Today, Yogeshwari is headed to IIT Bombay to study aerospace engineering. She secured the 75th rank in the differently-abled category under the non-creamy layer.
“I developed an interest in this discipline, and I worked for it." She told The Hindu.
Her journey is not just about clearing an exam. It’s about what becomes possible when opportunity meets determination even in the smallest corners of India.
