¿Casualidad o estrategia? Cada uno que saque sus propias conclusiones.
NEW: A global law body has given the thumbs up to Hong Kong’s legal system, a top commentator said last night at the United Nations.
The Chinese city’s rule of law was praised by Claudio Visco, President of the International Bar Association, said Dr Henry Ho, a legal and political specialist from Hong Kong. Ho was speaking yesterday at a United Nations meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
This is significant, since that global legal group’s human rights division had made a bizarre, deeply politicized attack on Hong Kong’s legal sector two years ago.
.
UNDESERVED CRITICISM
The division’s underserved criticism followed illegal sanctions on Hong Kong people from the United States—a country which lags behind Hong Kong in international rankings of the rule of law.
It’s significant that the International Bar Association is now standing with Hong Kong.
Listen to what Henry Ho said last night.
.
IBA WILL SPEAK OUT
“I am Dr Henry Ho and I was born and grown up in Hong Kong.
‘Hong Kong has a strong tradition of the rule of law….and the city managed the complicated period of transition following enactment of the two pieces of national security legislation, in a constructive way.’
“Ladies and gentlemen, these are not my words, but those of Mr Claudio Visco, President of the International Bar Association, who attended the Opening of the Legal Year of Hong Kong this January.
"I was there and he pledged that the IBA will speak out against any unjustified sanctions to Hong Kong’s judges and lawyers.
.
SAY NO TO ILLEGAL U.S. SANCTIONS
“What a stark contrast it is! Two years ago, the IBA’s Human Rights Institute launched harsh and unjustified attacks to our National Security Laws. I am pleased to see that our international peers are gaining a renewed, evidence-based assessment to our rule of law.
“National Security Laws protect the rights of all people, including the prosecuted. Take the case of Jimmy Lai, his open trial took more than 150 days and over 80000 pages of evidence were presented. The final judgement contains more than 800 pages and you can download it from the internet.
“We urge the international community to support Hong Kong judges and say No to the bullying and illegal sanctions of the United States. Our judges will continue to administer justice, without fear or favour.”
.
PROTECTING HONG KONG PEOPLE
There’s an interesting background to this issue.
In 1990, the Hong Kong people were promised that they would have the same national security protection from illegal foreign collusion that virtually all other places had.
But Hong Kong was a major CIA station, so in 1994, under the leadership of a man named Dick Thornburgh, the US launched an extremely well-funded campaign in Hong Kong to prevent the city ever getting a national security law.
That campaign succeeded—until 2020.
Foreign collusion became illegal, just as it is in the US, the UK and elsewhere—and certain people suddenly found the need to leave Hong Kong in a hurry!
They won’t be missed.

@Glenn_Diesen (...)The Western Russophobic hysteria, fantasizing about Russia's desire for expansion in Europe, is simply laughable to a historian. The psychological shock that awaits Europeans will be the realization that NATO was created not to protect us, but to control us."
-Emmanuel Todd-
This is genuinely shocking, and says so much about our approach to China.
I decided to check for independent reviews of the English version Xi Jinping's latest book, published a year ago, to see what people had to say about it since I hadn't read it myself.
To my surprise, I couldn't find any: not a single thoughtful review about the book out there! Even on Amazon, check it for yourself (https://t.co/1LVlhACA53): the book has only 3 ratings, that's it.
No matter where you stand on China, you’ve got to admit that’s pretty crazy: the sitting president of the world's rising superpower publishes a 700-page book explaining exactly what he's doing and why, and we don’t even care to look.
If there ever was a fact that illustrates just how willfully ignorant we are about China, this is it.
All the more because we then go spew the usual clichés around how secretive and impenetrable the Chinese system is: the book is on Amazon for $21 for crying out loud!
Anyhow, this felt so wrong that I figured I'd fix it. I bought the book, read it attentively and wrote what I hope you'll agree is a thoughtful review of it.
The book contains genuinely surprising passages, such as Xi writing that oversight of the Communist Party by "the judiciary, the public, and the media" was not just something the Party must “readily accept,” but something that he framed as historically decisive - an essential component to "escaping the historical cycle of rise and fall" that has doomed every dynasty in China's history.
Other passage that I'm sure would surprise many: a common narrative out there is that China blames the West for the century of humiliation and is driven by revenge. Well, Xi explains that's not true at all: the century of humiliation was China's own mistake, originated in the Ming Dynasty's disastrous "policy of national seclusion" that "resulted in China missing out on the opportunities presented by the Industrial Revolution" and "led to China’s decline."
All in all, the book is remarkably self-reflective and thoughtful. For instance Xi recognizes that his drive for “full and rigorous internal governance” - including to rid the Party of corruption - risked "instill[ing] fear and apprehension, or intimidate members into inaction.” He emphasizes the need for pragmatism in this regard, codified in a framework called the “Three Distinctions” that separates honest mistakes - made while experimenting, reforming, or operating without precedent - from deliberate violations committed for personal gain.
And many other surprises still. I found it a genuinely fascinating read for anyone interested in how the Chinese system works and how Xi thinks - or anyone interested in governance, period, as so much of what he writes is pretty universally applicable.

“We are not facing any threat to regional stability and security from China, our major trading partner.
“Rather, it is the ongoing US and Australian provocations in the South China Sea that represent the real danger.”
TODAY: U.S. REHEARSAL FOR WAR ON CHINA
Are you ready for war?
You might think the world has more than enough wars, but these men [Images: Hegseth and Rubio] want more.
The US today launches RIMPAC, seven days of war practice sessions to get ready for a planned US war on China. [Image: NYT headline about US preparing for war on China]
The US has pulled in Australia, Japan, and other countries – 31 in all – to rehearse an attack against the world’s second largest economy.

NO ONE BELIEVES OFFICIAL AIM
The official aim of the gathering is to “preserve freedom of navigation” but not one person believes it.
There are 140 aircraft, 40 ships, five submarines and more than 25,000 personnel, in the Pacific near Hawaii, and I can guarantee that everyone involved knows what it is really about.
The excuse, “freedom of navigation” has become a joke, since the ONLY nation that has gone out of its territory to illegal halt freedom of navigation in recent times is the United States, the organizer of this horrific display of warmongering. [Image: blockades in Iran, Cuba]
Not only has China ever interrupted freedom of traffic on the seas, it would never do so.
Analysts east and west agree on this. It is an export nation. Halting freedom of navigation would only do harm to its economy.
.
THE REAL DANGER
Former diplomat Dr Alison Broinowski, said “There is no impediment to navigation in the Asia-Pacific, nor has there been any such impediment since the end of the Second World War.
“We are not facing any threat to regional stability and security from China, our major trading partner.
“Rather, it is the ongoing US and Australian provocations in the South China Sea that represent the real danger.”
.
CHANGING EXCUSE
The war plan includes a casus belli – that’s a Latin term basically meaning “excuse to fight”. For a long time, the casus belli was Taiwan. The US creates a false flag explosion there, and off they go.
But a number of generals have pointed out that the plan to steal Taiwan’s main industry and move it to Arizona is going slowly.
An alternative casus belli is the Philippines. The US will blow up a Philippines ship and blame China.
Asians, I hope, will be too smart to get caught up in this – but judging by the number of people who have signed up for RIMPAC, the US has a lot of influence. And by influence, of course, I mean… money.
A German business group visited 🇨🇳 Shanghai and they were completely shocked! 😮
They're probably thinking this is SO different from what they saw in the media!
Visit Shanghai and see it for yourself!
Si no pudiéramos defendernos, habrían destruido nuestro país. Por eso nunca negociamos nuestras capacidades defensivas.”
Exacto.
Russian troops advancing in Ukraine discovering "USAID" signs on buildings as they go.
The full scale of the US states involvement in the illegal coup, and subsequent instalation of an illegal, radical Government in Ukraine, may never be revealed.
Hoping to circle back on this with @ksadjadpour. It seems as though Iran's suicide dolphins were more effective than anyone anticipated. https://t.co/JPmajpBFN9
Abhorrent!
The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry concluded in a report today that:
- Israeli authorities and security forces have deliberately targeted Palestinian children resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
- The intense scale and systematic nature of the Israeli military operations have continued – resulting in unprecedented death, injury and trauma of Palestinian children.

🚨 BOMBSHELL! Former US Ambassador Chas Freeman exposes a terrifying coverup.
He confirms the actual death toll in Gaza is a staggering 680,000 people.
He reveals the Zionist regime intentionally hides these massive casualties to avoid genocide charges.
Hillel Neuer, who denies zionist influence (control) in the US, brags about destroying Francesca Albanese's ability to conduct normal daily life transactions, and how they then went after her husband too.
🇺🇸🇨🇳🇰🇵For those who thought the Trump admin "closed down" the National Endowment for Democracy (NED)...
Here is a jobs listing from just a month ago...
(link: https://t.co/NlzN0QeV22 )
It is for "East Asia/Multiregional Grants" and claims:
"In 2025 [the year Trump supposedly closed NED], NED made 1,552 grants totaling $271 million to support the work of nongovernmental organizations advancing democratic goals in more than 90 countries..."
Then toward the bottom under "Qualifications" it says:
"Chinese or Korean language proficiency desired."
Obviously because by "supporting freedom around the world" the NED means, freedom for Wall Street to do what it wants - mainly by removing governments that refuse to be subordinated - and in East Asia that is primarily China and North Korea.
Wow, was für ein Drecks-Nazi-Imperialist dieser Manfred Weber doch ist.
Der soll mal lieber aufpassen, dass nicht jemand "robust" nach Europa reingeht und dieses Dreckspack ausrottet.
