Altaf Qadir, a historian at the University of Peshawar, has written an open letter explaining how Pakistan’s thinking about public finance need to change.
You can see in this letter how deeply Qadir believes in the public service ethos and how painful it is to have to deal with a ruling elite that has long lost any semblance of credibility.
This isn’t about this party, or that party, or some individual, but about the way in which Pakistani elites have gutted all service delivery institutions & then make it sound that they are doing the people a favour by spending anything at all on public services.
Please take a few moments to read this & half a second to share it.
Incredibly proud of my colleague Amanullah Khan as his new book is all set to drop from Vanguard next week - a great day for the History Department at the Quaid I Azam University, Islamabad. Looking forward to the book being a hit and for many many sequels! 😃 🥳
.@yes_mohmand tells us that voter turnout was severely affected by disruption in communication in #Mohmand tribal district. In one polling station, only 30 women voters turned up, with the same lackluster female turnout reported from other localities.

Not a single student has enrolled in the Philosophy department of University of Peshawar this year. A sign of intellectual degradation of our society. Education is now the lucrative means to the ideal, “Good Life” nothing more or less.
We're thrilled to have the Director of @KPDOAMOfficial collaborating with @peshawarfest. Their support in promoting our cultural heritage is inspiring. Join us and celebrate our diverse literary traditions through the power of literature! #KPArchaeology
