As a bead analyst I was very pleased to visit Ile Ife site which has a clear evidence of locally glass beads production as early as 11th century. The evidence has altered the story of glass beads making in Africa.
Huge Congratulations to Dr @AbidemiBabalol5

I was excited to guide high school students of #Kondoa on a journey of learning about archaeology. We used interactive learning, interpretive and simple techniques. This project brings archaeology to life & empowers students to see themselves as active custodians of their past.
A visit to three rock shelters of high artistic values in Kolo. The visit was of high significance since community archaeology and living heritage are often intertwined as local communities are often involved in the preservation & celebration of tangible and intangible heritage

New Article: @EJDPollard & colleagues discuss Kilwa Kisiwani, a UNESCO site in Tanzania threatened by climate change. Preservation efforts include digitizing heritage, training locals in drone surveys, documenting shipwrecks, & promoting cultural tourism.
Climate change threatens many heritage sites worldwide but digital documentation provides an opportunity to record what we have before loosing it forever. Our initiatives at #Laetoli is part of the efforts.
