You have to be absolutely mental, to be a Kenyan social media user, using your platform to oppose the Raila AUC bid! First, Kenya has only ONE vote at the AU, and it will be cast for Raila in February. You can mobilise your entire ethnic community to burn fingers typing tribal slurs here and tagging other countries, but which country do you think will determine its vote by saying "Good morning people of Equatorial Guinea, this is President Nguema...can we go to Kenya's social media and see who our candidate will be?"

Secondly, if you choose to hate someone because your ancestors took an oath to bind you to it, there must be a point at which even you acknowledges that you are wasting hatred. You hate that Raila might win a seat, in a competition in which you don't have a tribesman running, and where whether Raila wins or loses, you will gain nothing! Hate is a very powerful emotion. To throw it around without a guiding principle is shallow and plain stupid. In fact, this alone confirms that the oath is more powerful than all the schools and urbanisation you went through, because you are programmed like a robot to hate Raila, even if he was running against Satan for the seat of Chair of Hell's Blood Consumption Committee!

Thirdly, Raila starts the race with a solid 8 EAC votes and at least 14 SADC votes already guaranteed. In a 55 member organisation, with at least 4 not eligible to vote, Raila is therefore practically touching halfway, even before he gets the endorsement of his friends and Kenya's friends in West & North Africa. Besides that, Egypt, Algeria & Morocco are all running Vice Chair candidates to Raila, in acknowledgement that it is East Africa’s turn. In fact, Muslim majority countries acknowledge that it would be a tall order to have their candidates capturing the VC position if they vote the Francophone-Muslim candidate from Djibouti. But we agree that the candidate of Djibouti enjoys the support of the Gikuyuphone Mount Kenya bloc, whose total number of votes is a massive ZERO!

Last, but not least, of course Raila's launch yesterday had to have majority Kenyans! For fuck's sake, it was the official Vision Launch by the KENYAN candidate, sponsored by the KENYAN government! Who was supposed to be the majority in the room? Moroccans? When your own presidential candidates launched their manifestoes at Nyayo Stadium, did they bring all 22 million registered voters to Nairobi? A manifesto launch is a ceremonial vision unveiling, which has nothing to do with who is present. Even without that, of course as a Kenyan, Raila will have a Kenya-heavy backroom staff when he moves to the AU. Manchester United have just hired a Portuguese head coach who will bring his own Portuguese staff. It is the order of the world. So any Raila gathering right now will have Kenyans as the majority because he is still just the Kenyan candidate and has a Secretariat run by Kenyans. If you are waiting to see Senegalese and Tunisians, wait until after elections.

Very very last now...it seems Raila haters haven't learnt. The man is the most consequential human being to ever walk this land. If he loses the AU position, he will just return to the Kenyan political scene to cause you more ulcers. And the more you vote AGAINST him, the more he emerges as the biggest influence on the one you preferred. In the coming weeks, you will see his hand in fresh government changes. And there is NOTHING you can do about it. You can hate him and his community, but after you have woken up early to vote your preferred anti-Raila figure, how come you spend the next five years crying, while Raila in Bondo seem to enjoy life post-election? Whether Raila loses or wins, prepare to burst you gall bladder with more hate in three years, because he will be around making nonsense of your 2022 vote.
Now log on and cheer the candidate of Djibouti in your beloved vanity quest.
