I largely agree with Emily Wilson that Nolan is using modern guilt in his Odyssey adaptation. And I’m not sure if she agrees, but I feel that he’s laundering this guilt through characters like Odysseus, and Oppenheimer before him, to have his protagonists escape accountability.
