@OpenCourt It has legal knowledge but I'd say it isn't as easy as described. § 153a para. 2 of the German Criminal Procedure Code is a regulation to economically help proceedings. No more and no less.

@ana_mitric - Zverev and prosecutor both declared consent (which is necessary) + Zverev needs to pay a sum to the state to end proceedings

- His ex girlfriend decided to withdraw the allegations
- Court would have had to continue proceedings though (ending with a verdict of whatever conclusion)
- Thus: discontinuation as of § 153a para. 2 StPO (Code of Criminal Procedure)

Fairly standard to be honest - nothing scandalous.

The "Settlement" that has been reached was related to custody of their daughter.

- conclusion: Zverev is legally declared of allegations if the payment is made + he and his ex girlfriend settled custody dispute and whatever else was there + had nothing to do with the criminal proceedings
