Today, @RepThomasMassie honored the American sailors, Marines, and civilians aboard the USS Liberty who were attacked by the government of Israel on June 8, 1967.
Thirty-four Americans were killed and 171 were wounded when Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats struck the USS Liberty in international waters during the Six-Day War. It remains one of the deadliest attacks on U.S. servicemen by a nation considered a close American ally.
For nearly six decades, survivors and the families of those killed have sought recognition and accountability. Whether one accepts Israel’s claim that the attack was a tragic mistake or believes otherwise, the loss of 34 American lives should never be forgotten or dismissed.
Thank you to Congressman Thomas Massie for honoring the men of the USS Liberty and ensuring that their sacrifice is remembered.
The men of the USS Liberty deserved better. The American people deserve the truth. And those who died serving our country deserve to be honored and remembered.

Me handing @RepThomasMassie and @jamie_raskin the declaration letter from Ward Boston admitting that he was forced to determine the attack was a case of “Mistaken Identity”. We also have a DEMAND letter for the return of the life raft that was STOLEN!!
@derrickvanorden@RepThomasMassie@cspan As a Navy Senior Chief, why are you trying to dampen the topic of the USS Liberty being discussed with your childish jabs?
On June 8, 2026, I’ll speak on the floor of the House to honor and memorialize the brave crew of the 🇺🇸 USS Liberty who died and were wounded in an unprovoked attack by 🇮🇱 Israel on June 8, 1967. Catch my speech on @cspan.
Intertwining our defense technological development w/the Israelis, or any foreign nation, is foolish & dangerous.
Section 224 of the NDAA must be rejected.
My 1st article for @RStatecraft explains why: https://t.co/HUtS2qNITX
@NRCC I’m not voting in November. You choose Israel over America. What’s the point anymore. Perhaps the illegals that you promised to deport will vote Republican?
Good luck…
If the provision in the NDAA to integrate/synchronize the U.S. and Israeli militaries (section 224) makes it out of committee, I’ll offer an amendment to strip it from the bill on the floor.
We are a sovereign country.

🇺🇸🇮🇱 Joe Kent says Israel has no natural resources and only exists as a regional power because of U.S. funding.
Slight problem: Israel has massive offshore gas fields, is home to one of the world's top tech ecosystems, and exports over $165B in goods and services annually.
The U.S. support argument has real structural merit. The economic facts around it don't have to be wrong for the point to land.
