🇸🇴 Nunca vi algo así. En Somalia hoy se llenó un estadio para recibir como héroe nacional a Omar Artan, el árbitro al que Estados Unidos le negó la entrada al Mundial. Increíble.

WTO economists project global trade growth will slow in 2026, warning that conflict in the Middle East could further weigh on trade by keeping energy prices high and disrupting food supplies and transport. For the full presscon, watch: https://t.co/pOyW8ZAPO8 #GlobalTradeOutlook

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) must now move decisively from negotiation to implementation so that it delivers tangible benefits to Africa’s 1.4 billion people.
By bringing together our markets, the AfCFTA lays the foundation for structural economic transformation, accelerating industrialisation, deepening value addition, and driving broad-based growth at continental scale.
Its potential is immense. Projections indicate that it could increase intra-African trade by up to $3 trillion and raise Africa’s cumulative GDP by about $1.4 trillion between 2021 and 2045.
This promise, however, will only be realised through disciplined execution and sustained political leadership.
Chaired the Inaugural Committee Meeting of Heads of State and Government on the Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The AfCFTA Secretariat participated in a High-Level Dialogue on the New African Financial Architecture (#NAFA), convened by the @AfDB_Group , aimed at strengthening Africa’s capacity to finance inclusive growth and job creation.
AfDB President Dr. Sidi Ould Tah underscored the urgency of strategic, collective action to mobilise resources at scale and build an integrated financial architecture for the continent. In support, H.E. Wamkele Mene emphasised the need to unlock African private capital, close trade-related infrastructure gaps, scale up industrial financing, and ensure value addition from Africa’s critical minerals.
Leaders from AfCFTA institutions, AU-ETTIM, and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) welcomed #NAFA and reaffirmed the importance of stronger coordination, co-design, effective oversight of regional projects and value chains, and complementary regional policies to ensure successful implementation.
The AfCFTA Secretariat received a delegation from the Republic of Rwanda’s AfCFTA National Implementation Committee on a peer-learning and benchmarking visit to Ghana.
Discussions focused on national implementation experiences, including governance models, Rules of Origin, Non-Tariff Barriers, customs administration, and private sector participation under the AfCFTA.
