Layer 2 is currently facing a major structural challenge. Ethereum has significantly optimized its speed and transaction costs. As a result, many Layer 2 projects are losing relevance. Almost overnight, a large number of Layer 2 ecosystems have struggled or faded because the core problem they were created to solve is being addressed directly by Ethereum itself.

In the early discussions about building a network to democratize access to digital assets for 1 billion users, the InterLink Core Team explored multiple strategic directions. These included building directly on Ethereum mainnet, building on emerging high performance chains such as Monad, launching a Layer 2 on Ethereum, and other hybrid approaches.

The final decision was different. Instead of building on top of another ecosystem, InterLink chose to form a dedicated research team and build its own blockchain infrastructure from the ground up. This includes designing the architecture model, optimizing TPS performance, and even researching quantum resistant cryptography.

Yes, this approach requires more time and capital. However, it gives InterLink Labs full control over its infrastructure. Ownership of the base layer means independence in consensus design, validator economics, performance optimization, and long term evolution.

The mission is very clear. To enable 1 billion people worldwide to access digital assets through InterLink.

Today, one of the biggest structural problems in the blockchain industry is oversupply. Many chains have raised hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars, yet generate little to no real revenue. Meanwhile, operational costs can reach millions of dollars per month. The industry has been overly focused on two narratives:

Either become the “Ethereum killer”
Or build on top of Ethereum

But the real question is: why destroy Ethereum when it has already proven itself capable of becoming the primary settlement layer of Web3? Improvements in speed and cheaper fees become strategically irrelevant if Ethereum continues upgrading. As we have seen, a single major upgrade can eliminate 90 percent of competing chains or dependent Layer 2 ecosystems from a technical standpoint.

InterLink does not compete with Ethereum, nor does it depend on it.

InterLink Blockchain is inspired by combining the strengths of Bitcoin and Ethereum, allowing each to solve the weaknesses of the other. The goal is to design an asset architecture that is accessible to millions and eventually billions of users, while being structurally optimized to function both as a payment currency and a reserve asset.

All modules built on InterLink Blockchain are aligned with these two core objectives:
Seamless global payment utility
Long term reserve asset capability

InterLink was not created to chase Web3 trends. It was created to redefine access by making it easy for anyone in the world to acquire, store, and use a reserve grade digital asset.

That is the clear strategic direction from the very beginning.
