A historic milestone for Somaliland–Israel relations: H.E. President @AbdirahmanIrro today met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and signed a Strategic Cooperation Declaration, paving the way for deeper partnership, innovation, investment, and shared prosperity.
Last month I visited Somaliland — an unrecognised country that could reshape Africa and the Middle East
Its location in one of the world’s most contested geopolitical arenas has thrust its 35 year battle for recognition into the spotlight 🧵 @thetimes

Serious foreign policy must be rooted in reality. The UK’s policy on Somaliland requires urgent reconsideration. Our statement ⬇️

My little heart is so full at the moment. The healthcare workers in #Somaliland asked for support and input from geneticists in 2019 and in 2025 finally found one, she is ace and today she shared her work with the British Society for Genetic Medicine. Mabrook to our Bushra 🫶🏽
Conflict in the Eastern border of Somaliland with Somalia is entirely driven by the unsettled status of Somaliland with the added complexity of proxies backed by external entities including China and Somalia. Until that is resolved and the border issue is put to bed, “peace” will remain a fools errand.
What must be resolved and through strength is the aggression against the existence of the state of the republic of Somaliland. Unless minority clans in the area accept they are Somalilanders within the confines of Somaliland’s internationally recognised borders per 1960s, which remain legal, then I see no cause in pursuing this show piece dressed in white robes called “peace”. Mind you, the whole exercise might be useful if it buys the state time to organise its military and confront the problem makers one at a time. Appeasement is how Ukraine ended up being engulfed in a state of conflict.
Putting the cart before the horse is what is happening here.
@IbraM2035@somalilandmfa We are spending taxpayer money while they just sit in London, Sweden, Norway and so on . No real ambassadors, and some can hardly speak English. This is not fair!
@SaeedDhegarog @AmbMohamedHagi@FoxNews@NewsNation@CNN Bureaucracy is everywhere, and it has failed every government on the planet.
Hagi used to be my friend and a critical thinker, but since he started working in the Somaliland government with Bihi and Cirro, he has changed.
He has become a shameless politician, always posting self
Somaliland has resisted Chinese influence that has penetrated the Horn of Africa, and is one of only two governments in Africa that recognizes Taiwan. Strengthening cooperation with Somaliland is a productive step in advancing America's security and diplomatic objectives in the Horn of Africa and countering Beijing's ever-growing presence in the region.
