Got my second #PfizerVaccine a few days ago. So incredibly grateful for my new state, county, and medical community's partnership in rolling out the vaccine, and for their valuing the lives of educators like me. @GovMLG#NewMexico
@GovAbbott@DanPatrick@KenPaxtonTX Stop allowing your teachers to be killed. School districts in Texas: Stop allowing your staff and students to be in the presence of a deadly virus at its peak. You will be answerable for it some day. She was 35.
Zelene Blancas, a beloved El Paso teacher who became an internet sensation in 2018 after posting a video of her students hugging, has died at 35 from complications of Covid-19. https://t.co/TyIbvtwzt9
So, so grateful for Nor-Lea and Pfizer for providing the COVID vaccine to educators like me in New Mexico. Incredibly, incredibly grateful. Thank you, Lord, for the scientists and medical minds who developed the vaccine, and for those now distributing it.
“The days where it’s 13-plus hours at school, you’re just exhausted, hoping to make it to the car at night,” one teacher said. “We’re seeing an extreme level of teacher burnout.” https://t.co/Si8wPfdqzV
The Tiner Tot Academy for Exceptional Children (an extension now of Lovington Municipal Schools) has relocated from Houston and restarted here in New Mexico. Happy to say Andrew and Jeffrey were up early and ready to work! The neurotypicals were not so enthused.
So glad Betsy DeVos got her pink slip today. Have a great short list of nominees for Secretary of Education if anyone in the new administration is looking for ideas. #letitbeanactualeducator
I think teacher evaluations right now should focus on the following questions:
How are you doing?
Are you taking care of yourself?
How is your family?
How can I best support you right now?
My heart... today I said goodbye to two of the most extraordinary humans I’ve ever had the privilege to teach. They’re off on a new adventure. I know they will do awesome things because they are incredibly smart, imaginative, creative, and so much more. Good luck, Tiner brothers!
Not sure most people understand the number of high quality and hard working teachers who are truly on the verge of breakdowns due to being overworked and overwhelmed this school year.
