@abbymwalsh1@abigail that is amazing to see that VA is taking action to provide internet to rural areas. We need more service providers like @DominionEnergy who are willing to help those in need in our communities. #nurs638
@obnurseva@VACNP@KariAndren@obnurseva it’s crazy and disheartening that APRN’s don’t have those privileges when the demand for prescribing providers is so high. The patients in our underserved communities deserve better access to opioid treatment. #nurs638
The need for mental health access for children&adolescents has increased since the start of COVID. @NAMIAdvocacy recommends policy changes to improve access while @NYCSchools only offers summer wellness programs. Mental health access in schools is part of the solution. #nurs638
Thanks Porter Robinson for spending 3,947 minutes with me in 2022. I couldn’t stop listening to Hear The Bells. #SpotifyWrapped https://t.co/7ofHRr7nWL
@RNsbs1216 @DrKimSue My perspective on my patients getting started on methadone changed after reading that methadone withdrawal is significantly worse than opioid/substance withdrawal. We as providers and a community can and should do better for this population.
Getting Wrecked provides insight into the unsettling treatment of women and addiction. The harsh reality of the recovery process and my recent REVIVE! training gives me a deeper appreciation for those impacted by opioids.

@amandapat3 @DrKimSue Amanda, this book really was eye opening and highlighted the areas where the government and healthcare providers can do better. The stigma against those with opioid addiction should be eliminated so we can create more support and resources as a community.
Getting Wrecked by @DrKimSue was a great read this semester and allowed me to learn more about substance abuse in women and the impact incarceration has. More resources are needed to help women break the cycle and create a better lifestyle and as nurses we can help! #nurs638
My favorite reading for #nurs638 was Getting Wrecked by @DrKimSue. It opened my eyes to the injustices done to female prisoners with #addiction, and how much we fail those with opioid addiction in the community. I have a better understanding of what some of my patients go through
#nurs638 Challenged me to reframe topics & think differently than normal. It also showed me how vital stakeholders are in policy making. Nurses can make a big impact on public health & have the power to make a change. I will try to be an active advocate in my community @Nurs621
80% of US counties lack buprenorphine-waivered practitioners. However, 90% of Americans live within 5 miles of a community pharmacy. Clinical pharmacist have shown great success in treating OUD. Why are we not utilizing this valuable resource? @ASHPOfficial @bamhtf #nurs638
@NYCSchools The prevalence of mental illness in children continues to rise. Why not provide funding for more mental health professionals in schools so there can be improved access to mental health services for students and their families? #nurs638
@GovKathyHochul Since you’re investing in schools, why not also invest in improving mental health access for children and their families? Mental illness is more prevalent post-COVID and many children and families are without resources. Hire mental health professionals. #nurs638
@GovKathyHochul Governor Hochul, thank you for providing this resource for us. Are there any additional resources out there to provide mental health access to all? Despite online services being available, there’s still health inequity for many. https://t.co/4cnQCRklLs #nurs638
