Meanwhile, activists vanish, dissent is silenced, Kenya and East Africa raising urgent questions about what democracy means today.

Ruto doesn’t have to like us but as President, he is duty‑bound to protect us.

We, as citizens, don’t have to like him either but we cannot afford to stay silent when things go wrong.

For the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to remain silent while one of our own is abducted?

East Africa, we are in serious trouble!!
