This is Hachikō, one of the most faithful dogs there has ever been.
Each day he would meet his owner, Professor Hidesaburō Ueno, at Shibuya Station in Tokyo.
Then, in 1925, Ueno died suddenly at work.
Hachikō never grasped that he would not return.
So he went back to the station.
Day after day. Year after year.
For almost ten years he waited at Shibuya for the man he loved, until he himself died in 1935.
His devotion became so well known that Japan put up a statue of him outside the station. It is still there.
Millions have walked past it since.
Hachikō never stopped waiting.
