Oracle, Blue Owl project delay sends ripples through AI financing, sources say https://t.co/i046r2oabt https://t.co/i046r2oabt
NEWS: ORACLE FLAGS FORCE MAJEURE ON STARGATE CAMPUS
> Bloomberg reports Oracle sent a force majeure notice to Blue Owl's STACK unit on Project Jupiter the New Mexico Stargate site meant to support OpenAI
> Oracle says Project Jupiter remains on its planned schedule and it is not exiting as main tenant
> A person familiar with the deal told Reuters the program could slip about a year with completion potentially past 2028
SOURCE: Bloomberg
$ORCL Oracle — Invoking force majeure limits Oracle's exposure to financial penalties if construction misses its projected 2028 completion date, protecting corporate capital while preserving long-term leasing commitments.
Shares fell over 5% (dropping 7% at one point to mark their largest decline since mid-June, and falling 3.5% and 3% in separate sessions) after issuing a force majeure notice to developer Stack Infrastructure, a unit of Blue Owl, regarding Project Jupiter.
The 1,400-acre New Mexico data center project faces missing permits and local opposition, causing an $18 billion loan syndicate across 20 banks to trade below 90 cents on the dollar, though sell-side firms William Blair and KeyBanc called the defensive move logical.

Blue Owl a néanmoins perdu environ 5 % jeudi.
IA : DES RÉSULTATS ÉNORMES MAIS -12 % POUR TD SYNNEX
TD SYNNEX $SNX : cas assez intéressant jeudi.
L’action a perdu environ 2,3 % jeudi.

A TON OF THINGS HAPPENED IN THE STOCK MARKET TODAY.
Here's a full recap:
1. $META Meta closed +4.5% at $777.59 on the Muse follow-through after Connect. Reuters: Muse Charm is a pocket-watch-sized gadget with a roughly 2-inch screen and built-in 5G (no calls), so users can tap into Muse without a phone AI app; Muse is also coming to Meta's smart glasses. JPMorgan's Doug Anmuth lifted the price target to $920 from $820 (Overweight), saying Muse could become the most widely used consumer AI app since ChatGPT. CNBC: Connectors already cover 2,000-plus apps plus Walmart, Best Buy, Sephora and Wayfair, with a take-rate or commission path later. Reuters said Meta was on track to add about $56bn of market value on the day.
2. $ORCL Oracle fell about 3.5% after Bloomberg and CNBC reported a force majeure notice on Project Jupiter, the New Mexico data centre (Blue Owl's STACK) meant to serve OpenAI inside Stargate. CNBC: Oracle wants payment flexibility if 2028 slips; Oracle told CNBC the project remains on its planned schedule, and Blue Owl said commitments are unchanged. Reuters, citing a person familiar, said the programme faces a one-year delay on power, with Blue Owl holding about $3bn equity. $OWL Blue Owl closed down 3.6% and $BE Bloom Energy (fuel cells for the more than 2.4 GW site) slid about 3%. Bankers told Reuters the notice chilled other AI infrastructure financings (SB Energy delayed its IPO this week).
3. $ARM Arm dropped about 7.9% to roughly $306 (prior close $332.56, MarketBeat), the sharpest mega-cap chip move. Coverage tied it to Jupiter uncertainty plus a disclosed CFO Jason Child Rule 10b5-1 sale of 10,400 shares at $300 on 21 Sep (about $3.12m). SOX only fell 0.33% to 12,492.54 (TradingKey), so this was a single-name air pocket.
4. $NBIS Nebius jumped about 7.4% (InvestingLive) after BNP Paribas Exane upgraded to Outperform and raised its target to $399 from $260 (Motley Fool). That sits on Nebius's second compute-lease hike in months: from 1 Oct, selected $NVDA Nvidia H100 to B300 capacity rises roughly 17% to 21%. $CRWV CoreWeave got a milder JPMorgan Overweight at $125 and barely moved (24/7 Wall St.).
5. Indexes finished a whippy session almost unchanged: Nasdaq Composite 26,939.37 (up 0.01%), S&P 500 7,704.13 (down 0.02%), Dow 51,349.98 (down 0.31%) (AP/WTOP). Nasdaq had been down as much as about 230 points intraday before buyers stepped in (InvestingLive).
6. Semiconductors split. $INTC Intel up 3.91% and $AMD AMD up 2.38% kept the Muse-era agents-need-CPUs bid alive, while $SNDK Sandisk down 3.47% and $COHR Coherent down 3.32% gave back recent strength (InvestingLive). Mega-cap helpers: $GOOGL Alphabet-A up 1.34%, $TSM TSMC up 1.03%. Laggards: $AVGO Broadcom down 1.30%, $NVDA Nvidia down 0.41%, $TSLA Tesla down 0.57%, $MSFT Microsoft down 0.53% (TradingKey).
7. $GOOG Google opened Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar in Gemini Enterprise on 24 Sep (Google blog): near real-time video avatars with lip-sync and expressions, 97-language speech, and SynthID watermarking. Software GA versus Oracle's power-and-permit scare was the day's AI infra split.
8. Fed's John Williams said another rate hike before year-end is reasonable, citing resilient demand, sticky inflation challenges, and strong AI-related demand (TradingKey summary). Rates stayed tight even as Nasdaq clawed back to flat.
Flat indexes, one Muse melt-up, one Stargate financing scare. That is the tape.
The $500B Stargate AI buildout is hitting a wall - and it's not about chips or software.
Oracle invoked "force majeure" on its 1,400-acre "Project Jupiter" data center in New Mexico, citing power delays. The campus secured $18B in loans and is part of the OpenAI/SoftBank/Oracle Stargate initiative.
The bottleneck isn't capital or compute. It's pipelines, permits, and water rights.

Oracle speaks up about Project Jupiter!
Project Jupiter remains on our planned schedule. We are fully committed to New Mexico and confident in our path forward.
Oracle has made significant economic, community, and philanthropic investments in the state. This includes reimagining Project Jupiter’s power plan as part of our long-term commitment to be a good neighbor to the residents of Doña Ana County.
STACK Infrastructure has been a tremendous partner. Together, we are building New Mexico’s workforce for the long term. More than 3,600 construction workers are helping build the campus, including more than 1,000 New Mexico residents. More than 900 workers joined the team in August alone, reflecting the project’s continued growth. Collectively, they have logged more than 2.8 million hours worked.
We are excited about the more than $4.7 billion in economic benefit Project Jupiter is expected to bring to New Mexico.
@Zane_Calder Project Jupiter could become an important test case for how lenders structure mega-scale AI data-center deals.
🇮🇳 BIG #DEFENCE MANUFACTURING PUSH FOR WEST BENGAL!
West Bengal has allotted ~256 acres to #Jupiter Defence to establish a large-scale integrated defence manufacturing facility at the Jangal Sundari Karmanagari Phase II Industrial Park, Raghunathpur, #Purulia.
🏭 The facility is expected to become #Bengal’s first major defence manufacturing unit, creating an industrial base for defence production and supporting local suppliers, ancillary industries and employment.
🔹 256-acre industrial land allotment
🔹 Integrated defence manufacturing facility
🔹 Location: Raghunathpur, Purulia
🔹 Jupiter Defence is part of the Jupiter Wagons Group
🔹 Potential to build a wider defence-industrial supplier ecosystem
🔹 Supports India’s push for greater domestic defence manufacturing
Jupiter Wagons has been diversifying beyond railway manufacturing into defence and other industrial segments. The company says the project will strengthen domestic defence capabilities while creating opportunities for local businesses and employment.
This could mark a significant expansion of India’s private-sector defence manufacturing footprint into eastern India.

Daily trends:
Bonds still set the agenda, but overnight the AI buildout got a delivery scare and the Iran oil premium started pricing a ceasefire float.
1. Discount rates (louder). The 30-year poked about 5.44%, highest since 2004, while Fed speakers still leave room for another hike this year. Same machine as yesterday: higher long rates reprice equity duration before they cleanly reprice the funds path.
2. Housing rates (louder). Mortgage News Daily’s 30-year fixed jumped to 7.45% Thursday, up 19 bp from 7.26%. Freddie’s weekly print is softer at 7.03%, so do not mix the two. $ITB stays on the sideline until the rent valve actually opens.
3. Diesel export float (continuing). Advisers are still analyzing a short-term ban, Europe diesel is racing the US on export-ban risk, and Wright is still arguing an outright ban eventually cuts runs. Not law yet. First-order names stay $VLO $MPC $PSX.
4. AI infra delivery (NEW). Oracle sent a force majeure notice on the Blue Owl / Project Jupiter New Mexico campus, trying to delay payments if power slips and 2028 slips. Markets had been pricing gigawatts as if they convert cleanly into contracted tokens. $ORCL $OWL are the first clips.
5. Iran / Hormuz (flipped). Tape went from widen-the-war oil surge to a 7-day ceasefire offer plus talk of a phased Hormuz reopen. Friday Asia oil already softened on that float. Until cargoes actually move, treat it as a premium float and not a peace print.
Bloom Energy's natural gas pipeline feeds Oracle's Project Jupiter data center. Its completion target moved from August 2026 to February 2027.
That shift touches more than one balance sheet.
Global data center capital expenditure is projected to exceed $1 trillion next year, adding pressure to a strained system. Missing permits and community backlash affect Oracle's 1,400-acre New Mexico project. Rising bond yields and higher borrowing costs are straining project debt across the sector. That strain is visible in Oracle's $18 billion loan syndicate, which is trading below 90 cents on the dollar.
If high interest rates and construction delays persist, technology companies may scale back or delay infrastructure commitments. That outcome would impact energy providers and hardware supply chains. One side controls the decision to build, the other depends on that decision continuing.
Capital expenditure projections extend through next year, while individual project completions are targeted for 2028. The pipeline feeding Project Jupiter shifted from an August 2026 target to February 2027.

Oracle Moves to Protect Itself From Project Jupiter Delays
Oracle has sent a force majeure notice to the developer of Project Jupiter, the New Mexico AI data center campus tied to the Stargate infrastructure buildout.
The key point is what the notice does not mean: Oracle is not seeking to exit as the project's main tenant. According to reporting on the notice, the move is intended to preserve Oracle's contractual position and could allow it to delay payments if the campus fails to come online in 2028 as planned.
That protection matters because Project Jupiter faces infrastructure uncertainty. The 2.45-gigawatt campus is planned around Bloom Energy gas-powered fuel cells, while a pipeline intended to supply gas has been delayed to February 2027 and a separate air-quality permit for the fuel-cell system remains pending.
Oracle says Project Jupiter remains on its planned schedule and that it is committed to New Mexico. Blue Owl Capital says the notice does not change the project's financial commitments.
For now, the notice is better understood as contractual protection against potential delays, not evidence that Oracle has abandoned the project or that a delay is certain.

Friday opens on Thursday’s cash split as GPU-rental pricing power flipped the AI book’s soft spots into the day’s clear leaders while power and software lagged, and overnight crypto mostly consolidated the mid-$84,000 Bitcoin handle after Wednesday’s washout. $NBIS jumped 7.44% to 243.48 from Wednesday’s 226.61 after the company said Nvidia GPU cloud rates rise roughly 17–21% and AMD EPYC Genoa CPU services rise about 25% beginning October 1, with BNP Paribas lifting its target to 399 from 260 and the rating to Outperform from Neutral — a sharp reverse of Wednesday’s Redburn Sell initiation. $CRWV followed Overnight the crypto book repaired rather than extended Wednesday’s liquidation flush, with Coinbase midmarks sitting near $BTC $84,191, $ETH $2,680, $BNB $773, $XRP $1.53, and $SOL $116.38, little changed to modestly green on the exchange 24-hour tape from opens near $83,960 / $2,681 / $773 / $1.50 / $114.83 (about +0.3%, flat, flat, +1.9%, and +1.4%), and $XRP the relative leader after Wednesday’s outsized drawdown. Desk reads put total crypto liquidations nearer $340 million overnight, well below Wednesday’s half-billion-plus long flush, as the spot bid defended the low-$83,000s and accepted back toward the mid-$84,000s. Farside’s Thursday U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF print was a complete +$190.7M (IBIT $162.6M / FBTC $12.9M / MSBT $10.2M), a cooler but still-positive follow-through after Wednesday’s +$346.9M, while spot Ether ETFs added a complete +$66.1M (ETHA $26.8M / FETH $21.5M / ETH $17.8M) after Wednesday’s +$104.5M. Creations are still working, just at a slower clip while price digests.
Near-term bias into Friday’s U.S. session is to treat Thursday’s NBIS pricing-power bounce as the AI-book lead while watching whether $BE stabilizes after the Jupiter headlines and whether $MU can hold the 1,080 area into next week’s earnings, and for crypto the preference is confirmation that $BTC can accept and hold above $84,500 on U.S. cash hours with the ETF creation streak intact rather than chasing the overnight repair. $NVDA remains the valuation anchor of the AI book. $NVDA $AMD $MU $BE $NBIS $CRWV $MRVL $NOW $ZETA $SPCX $BTC $ETH $BNB $XRP $SOLwith a 3.72% gain to 90.13 from 86.90, and $AMD rose 2.38% to 629.26 from 614.61 after tagging 630.80 on the high and holding a 599.24 low. $MU edged 0.81% higher to 1,080.53 from 1,071.88 into the fiscal fourth-quarter print due after the close on September 30. The anchor stayed quiet as $NVDA closed 224.58, down 0.41% from 225.51, while $MRVL slipped 0.75% to 258.95 and the listed SpaceX vehicle $SPCX stabilized at 148.03 (−0.22% from 148.36) after Wednesday’s share-supply overhang. Soft spots were $BE, which fell 3.10% to 266.65 from 275.19 as Project Jupiter execution risk resurfaced after Oracle’s force majeure notice tied to the New Mexico data-center timeline and reports of a fuel-pipeline slip on Bloom’s largest deployment, plus software givebacks in $NOW (−2.13% to 137.78 from 140.78) and $ZETA (−0.74% to 29.57 from 29.79). Broader cash finished mixed, with the Dow off about 0.3% while the Nasdaq closed essentially flat.

@HedgieMarkets Force majeure for a gas pipeline permit denied twice...seems there's more going on here with Oracle and Project Jupiter
