Very pleased to join Africa Regional Convening co-hosted by @gchallenges Cha🇨🇦, @SciforAfrica @ClintonGlobal 🇺🇸 and @wellcometrust 🇬🇧 This convening brought together a small, select group of leaders to do something different. The goal is to concentrate more capital behind fewer, higher-impact initiatives. By aligning around shared priorities, sharing risk, and coordinating existing and planned commitments, participants can unlock the kind of systemic, government-led change that no single funder can achieve alone. I provided Government 🇰🇪 perspectives and assurances of our commitment towards domestic financing - both public and private sector aiming at atleast 1% of GDP towards #Science, #Research and #Innovation. Encouraged research and innovation towards commercialization through scale out and scale out. Shared our vision in establishing research chairs and looking forward to embracing the grand challenge initiative in various thematic areas.
