Since @MehboobaMufti opened the floodgates of political apologies, here is the list of NC's crimes that destroyed 3 generations of Kashmir & the apology @OmarAbdullah now owe to the people of J&K:

1) To the Martyrs of 13 July 1931 who laid down their lives fighting for Muslim identity against the Dogra regime. The same struggle Sheikh Abdullah betrayed in 1939 by dissolving the Muslim Conference & forming the National Conference to appease the very Dogras he once mobilized Muslims against.

2) To the people of J&K whom he traded to India using them as his own bargaining chip, followed by the farce of the first state assembly elections, where 43 NC candidates were declared "unopposed" before voting even began and 2 independents were forced to withdraw under pressure.

3) To the People of J&K for backing the Plebiscite Front from 1953-75 & reigniting the fire of resistance against India, the burns of which we are still carrying today.

4) To the people of J&K for the Indira-Abdullah Accord of 1975 in which he further traded away J&K’s autonomy just to sit on the Chief Minister’s chair.

5) To the people of J&K for introducing a draconian law, the PSA, which has made life hell for generations after that. Those who lived got ruined & those who are in jails today because of this law.

6) To the people of J&K for the tragedy of 1979 in which the Quran was burnt & thrown into toilets. Beards were cut. Homes and libraries were burnt. People were disappeared and martyred. And all this happened under NC patronage.

7) To the people of J&K for robbing the public mandate in 1987 in broad daylight & torturing, humiliating & terrorizing opponents who dared to challenge them in the mainstream until their own land felt unsafe to them.

And to the people of J&K for Ikhwan, Task Force, POTA, trading autonomy for his son’s cabinet berth in the BJP-led Govt, the Asia-Nelofar case, Afzal Guru, for leaving no space for youth except the graveyard, for criminalizing student activism, and to the families of 1 lakh martyrs and hundreds of disappeared, jailed & displaced.
