This is a horrible situation for the kids, regardless of what the parents did, it's not the child's fault.

@vincentbriatore @ECAGiraffe Only if they have no other relatives. Because they are immigrants, these children have nobody else. You are taking them from the only guardians they have. It's not the same as a normal arrest which would mean the child could easily be placed with other relatives.

@vincentbriatore Breaking into someone's house is a visceral violation of the owner's rights. Crossing an imaginary line in the middle of the desert to flee terror & exercise a legal right to seek asylum is really not the same thing at all.
Also, traumatizing children is always wrong.

@vincentbriatore 1) The majority are breaking a law to exercise a right: to seek asylum. Nobody has the right to seek asylum in your house. So it's not a good analogy. 2) Punishments should be proportional. Losing your kids indefinitely is not proportional to a misdemeanor violation.
