In a system where women and youth are consistently underrepresented in formal governance, the moment the Deputy Majority Whip was formally recognized was more than just a gesture, it was a disruption of the status quo. There are moments in this work that stop you in your tracks, and today, we witnessed one of them. For the first time, she was given the floor to speak on her own terms, carrying the weight of a leader who is too often ignored in committee divisions and high-level meetings.
It was a unique, bittersweet pleasure to witness. While we celebrated the moment, it served as a heavy reflection of a reality where positions are often earned but influence is withheld. Seeing a woman in senior leadership finally receive the recognition her office demands shouldn’t be a "unique pleasure", it should be the standard. This why our work in Gender Transformative Approaches in Agrifood Systems continues to be key.

Kiambu has robust frameworks like the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), a significant "policy-implementation gap" remains.
Our dialogue focused on transforming these plans into funded, inclusive actions that benefit everyonecespecially women, youth, and marginalized groups.
Today, we hosted a High-Level Policy Dialogue with Kiambu County Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to address critical gaps in our local food systems. Alongside our partners at Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and Scaling Up Nutrition (SUNCSA), we presented findings from the Gender-Transformative Approaches (GTA) project.

Apparently Gazeti ya Leo which was trending from yesterday entails this:
- A hard-hitting People’s Audit on Kenya’s fiscal and governance crisis, arguing our pain is not accidental but the result of deliberate political choices.
- It exposes how corruption, state capture, opaque debt, and elite interests have hollowed out the Constitution, starved hospitals, schools and counties, and pushed citizens from hustle to hardship.

Breaking: High Court Orders State to Break Its Silence on Kenya’s Debt!
In a landmark ruling today, the High Court has declared that the State violated the Constitution by withholding critical information on Debts and Borrowing, following a petition by KHRC & Wanjiru Gikonyo (TISA).
The court has ordered the State to disclose the following within 45 days:
1. All debt agreements entered into on behalf of Kenyans.
2. Details of sovereign bonds issued.
3. Full expenditure breakdown of all borrowed funds.
For too long, Kenyans have been kept in the dark while debt continues to cripple the economy and mortgage our future. This judgment is a bold step toward transparency and accountability—ensuring that citizens know where their money goes and who makes decisions on their behalf.
The fight for openness isn’t over, but this victory shows that the Constitution is on the side of the people. The clock is ticking, will the State comply, or will it continue to hide behind secrecy?
