Creating an enabling environment begins with recognizing young people as equal partners in development. It involves dismantling barriers, amplifying their voices, and ensuring they have opportunities to influence decisions in governance processes- issues the youth policy is actively working to address. KECOSCE, through support from @NLinKenya and @UNDPKenya @amkeniwakenya, supported a lobby meeting bringing together the @Kilifi_Assembly Committee on Youth & Sports, the Department of Gender, and the Youth Thematic group members of the Kilifi CSOs Network.
🎯 Objective:
To fast-track the finalization of the #KilifiYouthPolicy and secure political goodwill for implementation.
🔑 Key Outcomes:
✅ The County Assembly Committee committed to finalizing the Kilifi Youth policy after public participation. They stressed the need for the Department of Gender to commit to implementing the Youth Policy once passed, raising concern over past delays in implementing approved policies.
✅ The Department of Gender committed to follow due process and initiate public participation as the next step toward Cabinet approval.
✅ A joint roadmap was developed with specific responsibilities allocated to stakeholders, signalling a structured move toward finalizing the policy. @Phyllis_Muema @Muviazalwa @StepGithaiga

@KECOSCE I concur with Mr. Karisa's sentiments. There is a significant population of young people in rural areas who have no access to digital platforms and these same people will vote and they may not be in touch with what is really happening in the country.

Arrived in Kilifi town, Kilifi County, for my third day of the #JukwaaLaUsalama Coast Region tour. I will conduct a spotcheck of the Kilifi North Sub-County Mobile ID Registration Centre and hold a town hall meeting at St Thomas Girls Secondary School.

I will engage with members of the public, leaders, security teams and National Government Administration Officers on the delivery of government services, including security.
