One of the most profound realizations I had was when it hit me that my life is mine. It's the thing that belongs to me. When I'm dead, I'll be the one that's dead. So I must live like my life belongs to me. It's not my parents' or lovers' or friends' or anyone else's life. Mine.
Here is a quick reference to the official 2023 @WHO guidance for Media Professionals reporting on Suicide

It's World Suicide Prevention Day and we're still having conversations on Kenyan media insistence on sensationalising suicide, as though there aren't responsible reporting guidelines they should be following. Just so incredibly irresponsible and disappointing
This is NOT how you report a suicide. You need to follow responsible reporting guidelines, and I don't know how many times this is going to be pointed out!
Dead In Bed For A Month:
The body of a 32-year-old woman has been found in a state of advanced decomposition, a month after she died inside her house in Lavington, Nairobi.
Mercy Maina Wachinga is alleged to have taken her own life, leaving behind a note explaining why she did so.

This definition keeps popping up to be the most accurate one,
“The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.”
I really don't want to harp on this person but I really need my English teacher friends to hammer home to their students the idea that you are the Reader, a particular and vital role in the literary world, and not the Author nor the Characters.
Kenyan foreign policy has become an absolute joke. Kenyans can no longer enter Cambodia. Thailand is expelling Kenyans on arrival and rerouting them to even Nepal. A visa to Egypt takes months, and you have to surrender your passport (meaning you can't go anywhere else in the meantime)
Trying to apply for a visa to Vietnam, and first of all, the system collects cash and doesn't acknowledge payment. Then there are numerous requests for documentation. Ultimately, Kenyans have to pay 3 times more to a Vietnamese "visa processing consultant" to get a visa to go to Vietnam where, actually, no Kenyan wants to go to do anything unless they are being paid for it.
Mr. @SingoeiAKorir, can you people stop the speechifying happily in every little meeting with your shiny teeth flying everywhere and get serious with reciprocity.
Not to sound dramatic, but I’m starting to believe there’s a foreign influence operation behind the rise in xenophobia and anti-immigrant sentiment across Africa because ehhh… something is not adding up
They're reaching for xenophobia coz just like tribalism, it's low hanging fruit and it works coz many of us are easily distracted, and also would rather spew hate on people we believe we can punish, than put in the work to destroy our learned helplessness against those in power
Ageism is one of the reasons so many people grow up to become miserable and judgmental adults locked inside walls of self-inflicted shame. You’ll be unable to have fun or feel free in your 30s, 40s and beyond because you’ll eventually become a victim of the prison you built with your own hands and mouth. The only thing left will be to judge others as consolation for your misery because it makes you feel morally superior.
You can't announce the eviction of a major multinational at a political rally, claim you’ve privately picked their replacement, and then change tune 48 hours later to say "we will advertise". This isn't economic nationalism; it's chaotic, reckless policy execution
No, a lot of very poor people are going to suffer horrifically for the crimes of a system they have no power within whilst idiots crow about abstract "humanity" learning "lessons" and the bourgeoisie get on a-ok.
the freedom of not being ashamed of yourself is that u have the capacity to be honest. u can admit what you did, what you wanted, what you felt, and what you know
Major cheat code for life: Every pattern in your life repeats until you learn the lesson. The moment you choose differently, the loop ends and growth begins.
