If anyone had a right to question whether our democracy was worth redeeming, it was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Because in the face of billy clubs and lynchings, poll taxes and literacy tests, he never gave in to violence, never waved a traitorous flag or gave up on our country.
We've become a no-accountability society. Jamie Dimon isn't accountable when his bank defrauds investors. Mark Zuckerberg isn't unaccountable when he foments hate. The wealthy aren't accountable when they don't pay taxes. Trump isn't accountable when he lies.
So let me get this straight: armed white men plotting to kidnap a governor are a "militia," but people of color demanding justice and equality are "domestic terrorists."
Does a 6th GOP justice -- nominated by an impeached president who lost the popular vote by 3M, confirmed by GOP senators representing 15M fewer Americans than their Democratic colleagues, after Obama's pick couldn't even get a vote -- justify expanding the size of the Court?
