We recognize that Canada’s labour needs vary across regions. Our one-time In-Canada Workers Initiative helps meet labour needs in Canada’s smaller communities to support and grow local economies: https://t.co/3KkLC0t5w8
This initiative will accelerate permanent residence for up to 33,000 workers in Canada by the end of 2027. These individuals are already living and working here, and contributing to Canada’s economy.
To date, 3,600 workers have been granted permanent residence under this initiative between January 1st and February 28, 2026. Our work continues.
🧭 Fraud Prevention Month may end, but awareness must continue.
Unauthorized practice risks families and futures—choose verified, authorized professionals.

Settlement services help newcomers find jobs, build connections and contribute to Canada’s labour market. As announced in Budget 2025, we’re introducing limits to settlement service eligibility for economic immigrants to encourage earlier use and keep the services available for newcomers who need them most: https://t.co/8iMlJFXShA
Both current and new economic immigrants will have a set amount of time to access settlement services after becoming a permanent resident:
• up to 6 years after obtaining permanent residence, as of April 1, 2026
• up to 5 years after obtaining permanent residence, as of April 1, 2027

Canada is regaining control of its immigration system to restore balance and sustainability while continuing to attract and retain the world’s best talent, including international students. Graduate students make significant contributions to Canada’s research ecosystem and innovation, including in critical sectors like health care. Research also shows they integrate well into the labour market and are more likely to work in their field of study.
That’s why, even as we bring the number of international students down overall, we’ve launched priority processing for PhD students, simplified the application process for most grad degree students and improved our web resources for this group. Learn more: https://t.co/fzpKYw5jRc
