The women’s sections at mosques are usually awful. I’m always surprised at how Muslim “community” centers are more men-centric. Anyways, we’re in Brooklyn trying to find a place to pray and this place is hands down the absolute worst woman’s section I’ve seen yet...the basement!

Been working on the latest MyIslam article on apostasy for some time now. It's been a bit of a struggle considering the depth and complexity of the different interpretations and the historical context. But hopefully it's all worth it in the end for the readers!

Although apostasy is punishable by death in Islam, the Qur’an doesn’t mention any worldly punishments. There’s also no reliable evidence that Prophet Muhammad ever imposed the death penalty on apostates. So why is apostasy a crime punishable by death?
