🚨 CANADIAN TRAVELERS: YOUR LIFE IS AT RISK 🧳 ✈️
Innocent Canadians are landing abroad and getting ARRESTED for drug smuggling… because airport insiders at @TorontoPearson are switching their luggage tags onto suitcases full of cocaine.
CTV W5 exclusive: At least 17 victims in one year. Destinations include countries where drug smuggling can mean the DEATH PENALTY.
This is the tip of the iceberg.
How is this happening inside our airports? Could it have anything to do with the airport being staffed by majority foreigners? Arrests of baggage handlers aren’t enough. First a gold heist now this! Security must be fixed NOW.
Tag everyone you know who flies.
This could happen to ANYONE. 🇨🇦

@AirCanada it’s one thing to bump a paying business class customer to the back in economy because you’ve oversold the flight, but it’s terrible to say that it’s because the seat is broken when there is another person sitting in your original seat. Nope, not acceptable.
The CRA just paid out another bogus $5 million tax refund.
A woman claimed she made $9,999,999 in foreign income.
No verification.
They just processed it and paid her.
This is now a PATTERN:
$40 million: paid to a fraudster. No verification.
$37 million: paid to tax scammers.
$5 million: to a Quebec body shop that had $242K in revenue.
$5 million: to this BC woman today.
Conservative MP Deltell said it perfectly:
“They don’t conduct a serious assessment for cases involving millions of dollars, but they harass hundreds of thousands of Canadians over a few thousand dollars.”
This is why they’re coming after YOU with audits.
This is why they’re clawing back CERB payments from working Canadians.
They’re hemorrhaging money out the front door to fraudsters.
And extracting it from you through the back.
Our taxes pay for this.
So they can come after us for their mistakes.
@JimChuong@danielfoch So true! Took my daughter to Manhattan and it’s now her life goal to live there…she fell in love w NYC. Told her she needs lots $$$$ for Manhattan, she’s determined.
@AaronHectorCFP Came across 2 new clients that have payables sitting in their online account & didn’t even realize they were reassessed for missing slips. Both cases I noticed once they provided me auth. But they should have gotten the notification when mail is there, but I still feel bad.
Recent T1135 penalties case. Was this a DIY attempt at form T1135? VDP? This hurts but it’s no where close to the penalties I’ve seen imposed on the U.S. version of this which start at $10k USD. https://t.co/TMjKp6wZlE
Not my post, it’s another brilliant CPA I follow online. A common problem in this industry!
“Lead: I have a quick question re a tax matter..
Me: Thanks for thinking of me, here's my calendly link and payment link for prepaid consult for 1 hour.
Lead: Really?
Me: Yeah, really.”
I would add stopping contributions when departing Canada to your TFSA. And in many instances, for example if you are moving to the U.S., it might make sense to rebalance it or completely close it. Financial Post https://t.co/c8sfnmUEgC via @
Thanks for an informative & much needed discussion today on tax reform with CPA ON @JamieGolombek. Tax reform is needed and long overdue. As a cross-border specialist I see it often, many departures the past 2-3yrs. Canada is losing talent.
I attended a great session today with CPA Ontario on tax reform in Canada. It’s insane that > 50% of gov funding comes from personal income tax. Canada is at the top of tax rates worldwide & driving away good talent. Tax reform is needed & long overdue. https://t.co/MZnLi6AJkc
@NonResTaxCam@CanadaTaxGuy Luv it, gonna start using your line if ok “friends don’t let …” most people have no idea the can of worms they’ve opened & costs involved. I see LLCs often from average Cdn residents and I refer them right out. My list of ‘not big firm’ specialists in this area is fairly small.
