@Gamefly150@PalmettoGhost@ray_ray200108 Let’s say you have $70 per month to spend on new games. At the $25/$35 comparison above, I get 5-6 additional games a year. And physically, I can sell them if I want.
You’d be stupid to spend more money for fewer games that have no resale value.
@The_Real_Bill_@OmegaProYT Right. Niche markets can be very valuable. Limited Run and others manufacture new physical cartridges for vintage hardware today. There will always be people who default to owning media instead of renting an easily revokable license—and moves like this will grow that community.
@DeekeTweak Cutting out 20% of your units sold and 10% of your software sales revenue seems bad, actually. There will be some portion of the base that will not go all digital and some portion that will shift to more convienent hardware (PC) if they’re forced all digital.
@Mik3one5@The_Real_Bill_@OmegaProYT It’s almost like “in 25 years no one is going to be using physical media anymore” and “physical media will be a small, but valuable part of the landscape” are different statements and mean different things.
@The_Real_Bill_@OmegaProYT Vinyl record sales were over a billion dollars last year and that format peaked in 1978.
People still collect and play NES and SNES games.
People will still be using physical media in 25 years.
@primediscussion He made $200k pretax for 18 weeks of work. That’s in the top 5-6% of individual earners in the US. If you make more than 94% of individuals while working less than 25% of the year at 23, you’re “rich.”
@lair_kirk@TheTunnel_Texas@johnisminty Tech wants to keep him ready to play games—everything else is secondary. He’s allegedly a sports gambling addict. Being embedded in the sports world would be detrimental to his recovery.
@lair_kirk@TheTunnel_Texas@johnisminty One of the first things any recovery program teaches is to change your environment. Hitting rock bottom and still hanging around your addiction trigger is… not recovery.
@kirbyhocutt The situation isn’t new. It also IS binary. He placed those bets, no one disputes that. He should never play CFB again.
Help him all you’d like. That’s noble! But if he suits up, YOU have no integrity.
Also, he didn’t win his case—he received temporary relief until it’s heard.
@robbreauxshow Over the last three years they’re 27-13 overall and 19-8 in a bad conference with a 1-2 bowl record and zero playoff wins.
They’re basically Iowa, but in a much worse conference and with less consistency.
@BenjaminGolan 20-7 in a bad Big XII over the last two years with zero playoff wins is “good at football” to you? Your ceiling is the rarified air of… Arizona State?
@chris_kratovil Question: could the NCAA just stop operating in Texas? Could they revoke membership for all Texas schools and instruct remaining members to neither play in Texas nor schedule non-member schools?
If they’re getting blow up anyway, might as well go out on their own terms.
@TechAthletics@TexasTechFB Like a brewery saying, “We created a support program for our alcoholic taste testers after they’re caught sneaking beers off the line!”
Anything as long as he’s there on Saturdays.
@Michael_alzr@maaaackle Americans waste ~350 lbs of food per person annually. More than 6 lbs a week.
Buying what you need when you need it at the grocery store you’re already passing while walking home from work is far more efficient than once a week trips buying in bulk.
@sadhorse4@voteconsequence@esjesjesj@sleepy_devo You know that your $18 basic ass ID wouldn’t qualify as sufficient ID under the SAVE Act since it doesn’t prove citizenship, right?
And Louisiana specifically doesn’t verify immigrations status before issuing a state ID.
