If you're still following me here at @MylesatTheBody: Cut it out! Please follow me at @myhelfy instead; I'm no longer tweeting from this account. Well, except for this tweet saying I'm no longer tweeting. And any future tweets I tweet about how I'm not tweeting anymore
If you're gonna listen to any speech about #Ukraine 🇺🇦, let it be this one.
The Kenya ambassador to the UNSC perfectly explains how people across Africa understand Ukraine, and what the Kremlin's acts of aggression mean in our post-colonial world.
(If you're wondering why I haven't been tweeting from #CROI2021 at all, it's because I am, only it's at @myhelfy, not here, because I don't tweet here anymore except for periodic tweets like this saying I don't tweet here anymore)
We've got yummy, digestible bites of #CROI2021 research to read at @BodyPROHIV -- quick summaries of several oral abstracts, with lots more to come. We've split these into four topical areas, though you can reach them all from our main coverage page: https://t.co/8DxC79jANd
Hello HIV community frens. It's #CROI2021 and I'm tweeting a lot about it -- but not here, because I'm not using this account anymore! Follow me at @myhelfy instead for stuff like this: https://t.co/JGbmhbznAH
Latest data on "on-demand" (a.k.a. 2-1-1) PrEP, via @jmmolinaparis at #CROI2021: It's just as effective as daily PrEP, y'all! Slightly more gut side effects, but also slightly less risk of lab abnormalities (e.g., kidney-related stuff). Completely viable HIV prevention strategy
We're trying something new with our #CROI2021 coverage this year: bite-sized study summaries that we collect into a few topical buckets. Our first article, on HIV treatment and the care continuum, is now up, and we'll keep adding and updating all week! https://t.co/VEuP1cpe9x
Sophie Sembajwe of @IHSgov just shared data at #CROI2021 on HIV dx and mortality among American Indians + Alaska Natives in the U.S. Overall trends mirror the general pop, but AI/AN remain disproportionately affected -- and there's some huge variations by age and geographic area.
So good to see trans-focused data get a focus at #CROI2021. Cristina Rodriguez-Hart of @nycHealthy dove into viral suppression rates among trans PLWH on Medicaid -- and found that gender-affirming surgery often helped lead to improved suppression.
Here's @AadiaMd sharing data at #CROI2021 on how long it takes for PLWH to become virally suppressed in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Big improvements in recent years in all states, but still a ways to go, with localized pockets still in need of a lot of help.
Jun Li of @CDCgov just presented data at #CROI2021 on delayed treatment start among newly diagnosed U.S. PLWH. On balance, their data show, racial and geographic disparities have improved in recent years -- but not in cases of substance use.
If y'all missed fantabulous HIV advocate-journalist and long-term survivor Mark S. King's 60th birthday shindig, it's on the interwebs for permanent watching enjoyment. @FabulousSanchez was a super emcee. Javier Muñoz and Elton John sang!
@myhelfy I'm also no longer checking mentions or DMs on this account with anything even remotely approaching regularity. So hit me up at @myhelfy if you wanna be sure I see your tweeterized words
HELLO. If you see this, it probably means you're following me here. Which means you'll also want to follow me at @myhelfy! That's where I do 99.9% of my tweeting now, including assorted news and notes on HIV stuffs. I RT myself here sometimes, but with less and less frequency.
Hey, got plans tonight? Sure, we all don't! Incomprehensibly (for so many reasons, the most important being he barely even looks 48, damnit), @MyFabDisease is about to turn 60, and he's throwing an online bash at 7pm ET. I'll be there. Wanna come? https://t.co/3HaPTqGfNL
"I am astonished that we are so much closer to a cure for COVID-19 than we are for HIV," writes @juanmichaelii. "I don’t think that it is a government-funded conspiracy; I think the reason is that we’ve grown comfortable with HIV being around." https://t.co/x4KD2f1fRx
A COVID vaccine is just the beginning, @kenyonfarrow writes on @BodyPROHIV. "We’ve got to do the ongoing work to transform the role of public health—make it visible and relatable to people—and Black public health practitioners have to play a leading role." https://t.co/3QcveFmrly
This is also a yummy time to re-up on my article from earlier this year on how life expectancy for many groups of people living with HIV in the U.S. now matches that of the general public: https://t.co/knjdUHiSu8
We featured @DrDemetre on @BodyPROHIV a few years ago in a special video project we did highlighting his deeply empathetic approach to patient care -- specifically in how he explains and discusses PrEP as an HIV prevention option: https://t.co/RtXTz9ClRQ
This is tremendous. @DrDemetre is widely respected in the HIV community, among advocates and care providers alike; he's been at the leading edge of efforts among health departments and policymakers for messaging to match the science on issues like U=U and PrEP dosing.
This is all this account is now, btw. An empty shell, regurgitating HIV-related tweets that I'm now putting out at @myhelfy. Unfollow me here, follow me there! It'll be a hoot.
Peopleses, if you're at all interested in informative and insightful sex-positive journalism, I recommend reading basically anything @GigiEngle writes. Her latest for @TheBodyDotCom is about why we're so into taboo sex. https://t.co/xnRyvIpzFy
