Pope Leo XIV at the Stations of the Cross: "Every person in authority will have to answer to God for the way they exercise their power." Jesus says. "Whatever you do to another human being, especially to the small and vulnerable, you do unto me. And it is to me that you will one day give an account."

Rev. Jesse Jackson showed up for the family of Vincent Chin and Asian Americans when few others would.
His Rainbow Coalition showed us the way to solidarity.
May he rest in peace.
@PhillipAKennedy There is an upside…both will be able to stand before Jesus on Judgment Day and hear well done, good and faithful servant on this issue. My evangelical tribe will only hear .well????
I can't even deal with this.
For years — as long as I've been alive — conservatives (myself included) have resisted nearly every major voting rights or election administration bill Democrats have proposed, on the grounds that elections should not be federalized or centralized in any way.
Here are some direct quotes that speak for themselves:
Mitch McConnell:
- "We're talking about fundamentally the same bill… the plan to forcibly rewrite large portions of the 50 states' respective election laws… This is a massive federal power grab."
Ted Cruz (he has LOTS):
- "This is a power grab by Democrats in Washington to federalize elections and to take over elections in all 50 states. It is profoundly unconstitutional."
- "What Democrats are trying to do is seize control of elections from the states and put it in the hands of politicians in Washington. That is exactly what the Constitution was written to prevent."
- "This bill is about rigging the rules of the game. It is about Washington politicians deciding how Texans vote, how Floridians vote, how Americans vote."
- "The so-called For the People Act is really a federal takeover of elections. It strips states of their authority and centralizes power in Washington."
John Thune:
- "This legislation… attempts to federalize elections and rewrite election laws in all 50 states… This is nothing more than an attempted power-grab from the left."
Heritage Foundation:
- "The proposal that the federal government set new 'minimum' standards for state voter registration systems is a bad idea… another step toward the federal takeover of the administration of elections."
Federalist Society:
- "Election administration has always been primarily a state responsibility, and federalizing it threatens the balance of our constitutional system."
The SAVE Act would require states to use federal databases to verify citizenship and maintain voter rolls — effectively creating national oversight of voter data.
So can someone explain to me, on principle: when did federal overreach become okay with you, and why? Why are so many conservatives now supporting exactly what we have consistently argued against for decades?
This is simply not consistent with conservative principles, so it's really hard to see this as anything other than a power grab.
Christian Nationalism looks like seeing Jesus hanging on the cross and saying, "he should have just obeyed the law."
Christian Nationalism looks like the Samaritan leaning over to the man beaten on the side of the road and saying, "before I pay for your treatment and shelter, tell me, are you here legally?"
Christian Nationalism looks like Jesus saying to his disciples before feeding the 5,000, "go make sure everyone here has a job and isn't just looking for a handout."
Christian Nationalism looks like using the Bible to seek first the power of the empire rather than the self sacrificial love of Jesus.
Christian nationalism looks like worshiping power rather than loving God and our neighbors.
Christian nationalism looks nothing like the real Jesus.

@CSASuperman@TomBuck Morning! Is it possible your admiration of the confederacy may be an issue with interracial couples you know being a stumbling block in your viewpoint?
Is that flag , a symbol of racial supremacy a possibility any person of color would want to attend a “white church”?
Editorial in the National Catholic Reporter: "[JD Vance]'s comments justifying the death of Renee Good are a moral stain on the collective witness of our Catholic faith. His repeated attempts to blame Good for her own death are fundamentally incompatible with the Gospel."
@BaptistLeaders@LewisRicherson Let’s teleport back 2023 years to 21 BC. Jesus, the two year old infant flees Israel for Egypt to escape infanticide.
The @BaptistLeaders is hosting the sabbath service. Do you refuse communion with Joseph and Mary as well?
No? Go and do likewise today.
White men over totality of US history:

Shame on you @JDVance@TPUSA
@Ameen_HGA Over 1000 likes as of your screenshot. All in our evangelical Christian family based on historical support. The Sermon On The Mount clearly is not studied and applied here.

@Antifaucist722@pastordmack England’s naval power and financial institutions (think Bank of England) allowed it to outcompete Portugal, making Britain the leading slave‑trading nation by the 18th century.
The transatlantic slave trade was primarily driven by European greed and exploitation, in Jesus name
@Antifaucist722@pastordmack This religious sanction gave moral cover to financiers and rulers, allowing them to present the trade as both profitable and spiritually justified. In 1618, King James I chartered the Company of Adventurers of London Trading to Africa, formalizing England’s entry into the trade
