@Waffle_Slapper Yeah, why not, if you want to play a control deck that's always best choice, the deck is worse if the field is wide and unpredictable but better the fewer decks see play.
If you are looking for competitive decks then check these out. I see the metagame to be primarily two deck types: 4x Strip Mine + a pile of 56 other cards, or, Combo based on either Dark Ritual or SnT (somehow both combos co-exist in Tier 1 since they have different weaknesses).
I won the TheGatheringGG Timeless event, going undefeated with my Necro deck ! - deck's pretty much the same as it was 5 months ago and still manages to beat all those pesky Strip mine / Ancient tomb decks.
@Waffle_Slapper Well, if I could I'd just play UB control all the time - but that deck really needs FoN at this point the way the format has developed - atm I'm having some fun with 4 strip mines in the reworked B(R)(G) Ring deck.
Turn 2 Ancient Tomb into Show & Tell is really strong. S&T combo might be the best deck now since the tomb lets it keep up with Dark Ritual decks speed-wise. T1 fetch land beats strip mine and chrome mox beats t1 blood moon.
Uhh, so I started playing Historic and it's ok but I'm not a fan of the format. Control decks are unplayable vs Eldrazi, while most Combo decks are unplayable vs UW Tempo, and a deck to be good has to be able to pass the benchmark of beating t1 discard, t2 discard, t3 sorin.
We're getting a 5 color land - Starting Town, from the upcoming set for Historic. So now with it, Mana Confluence, and Desert Cenote (new addition from previous set), do you think this could open it up for new 4c, 5c decks to show up?
It looks like an aggro or midrange deck but it's actually all about the Vanguard combo. Here's a Mystmin certified deck for whoever's playing the Alchemy Qualifier tomorrow.
@trail_of_magic Deck loses hard to Show & Tell as far as I can see from a glance (combo deck could maybe have maindeck white leyline and especially has after sb Culling Ritual). Congrats on the result though!
@Vottoast Before the game I updated my deck to have 4 pierce. In game I mulled once into 2 pierce, 1 snare and I bottomed the snare. After the game I changed the maindeck 1 snare into 1 stern scolding.
This Tainted Pact deck is awesome. I think of it as the anti-combo combo deck of Timeless. It won me 13 matches in a row going from % to top 100 mythic, and so I recommend it for some fun in the upcoming Timeless meta challenge. https://t.co/SWvxnfVk2j
My metagame share prediction for the upcoming Timeless event: 22.5% Energy, 12.5% Show & Tell, 17.5% Charbelcher, 17.5% (W)UB Frog, 10% WB(G) Balemurk, 20% Other.
@DjMaffiTheOne That sounds accurate, but perhaps, that it is free entry and there's no recent result to look at showing lots of dark rituals decks in top 8, could make it not exactly so.
I think the black charbelcher deck is the Bogeyman of Timeless. It is very hard to stop on the play with its consistent t1 necro, t2 wins and that makes me want to quit Timeless.
Before this sure the deck diversity was lacking but the games were challenging, fun and interactive.
@Waffle_Slapper The card is best for enabling faster combos and synergies (black belcher is biggest winner). Anyhow I played a "fun" deck today where you'd use the mox to reanimate t1/t2
