Early in 2025, many wondered whether the disruptions in funding would push the AIDS response off course.

But at the end of the year, after meeting leaders, communities, parliamentarians, activists, and partners across continents, I can tell you that a path to #endAIDS as a public health threat remains open – if we protect what we know works.

A multisectoral response, led by communities, focused on human rights, spurred by innovation, and underpinned by rigorous data and targets.

That was my message to the @UNAIDS Board as this year came to an end. And it will continue to guide our work as we enter the new year.

I want to thank every partner who stood with us in 2025:
- the communities who refused to be silenced;
- the governments who upheld solidarity;
- the civil society activists who fought with courage;
- the UN colleagues who worked tirelessly, even as their jobs came to an end;
- and the donors and multilateral partners who remained committed during a turbulent year.

As I look ahead, to the coming year, I carry with me the energy of the @ICWEastAfrica sisters who said, in the face of funding cuts, “We will not only live—we will thrive.”

It is that spirit of hope that can guide the HIV response to a safe landing. I know we can get there together.
