The 20th century world wars taught two lessons at once: do not sleepwalk into a general war, and do not assume an expansionist power will stop if left unopposed.

Perversely, neither of those lessons apply today to Russia. When the Soviet Union collapsed, Russia shrank and NATO - a military organisation - expanded to its borders. Ergo, the EU/NATO is the expansionist power, not Russia. In reality, Russia lost its empire even as the EU became an Empire, allied with militarist, expansionist NATO.

Europe is not sleepwalking into a war with Russia, it is charging into it with blazing eyes stretched wide open. The sheer insanity of this is incomprehensible - unless one believes the EU wants war purely in order to halt the "far-right" from coming to power in Germany and France, which would mean an end to the tyranny of the Von Der Leyen Imperialist Commission.

Matt Bracken is spot on here, Ukraine IS just a launchpad for NATO to blitz Moscow. Millions of Ukrainian soldiers are dead. Their army has given up trying to retake the 20% of eastern Ukraine taken by Russia in 2022. There is no war anymore, in terms of dislodging Russia. Ukraine has lost, but it remains a launchpad for NATO which will continue attacking Moscow. I suspect this was always the intention, and the destruction of two generations of Ukrainian men viewed simply as the means to an end.

Exactly this: NATO is systematically conducting actual bombing strikes deep inside Russia via its Ukrainian proxy, all while it desperately tries to convince Western publics that it is Russia that is threatening Europe through “hybrid warfare” — which generally means attacks no one can see but are totally-100%-trust us happening. When Russia actually decides to retaliate, NATO will argue it is entirely unprovoked and use it as confirmation that they were right all along. An insanely dangerous game.
