NEWS: St. Bonaventure is finalizing a deal to hire Daemen head coach Mike MacDonald, a source told @On3. A formal announcement is expected Tuesday.
MacDonald, an ’88 alumnus, went 61-3 over the past two seasons. He holds the second-best winning percentage (.953) in college basketball during that span, trailing only Nova Southeastern and ahead of Duke.

And yet…
Logic might not be the deciding facto here.
If Woj has a preferred direction for the program, that voice is going to carry real weight.
Which is probably why the most logical hire might also be the least likely.
Wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.
IMHO there’s a guy that makes a ton of sense that I haven’t seen mentioned much at all and that’s Dave Moore.
Fair or not, Woj has been under siege for the past week. If he wants to get back in Bonnies fans good graces, he needs to hit a home run with this hire. I think all will be forgotten/forgiven if he brings Vanterpool home. He’s at the top of my shortlist of Schmidt replacements.
Mid-majors tend to chase the “hot name”, or find the next “up and coming” but both often require years of rebuilding culture.
Moore would allow the program to turn the page without ripping up the blueprint that actually worked.
Plus, that guys a DUDE. If you know what I mean.
If you had doubts about the “rumor mill” - doubt no more.
Very pointed comments here.
In a world in which you’ve published many words, I have chosen the same two you once chose for a U.S. Senator… right back at ya, @wojespn.

"It's a good place with good people."
Coach Schmidt embraced the @StBonaventure community from Day One. There's no doubt he's always been our guy.

MAN!
Spent the last few days digesting the hoopla surrounding the Schmidt/Bonaventure separation.
I could write 1,000+ words on how that man (whom I probably played a total of < two minutes for) shaped my life.
But all I have to say right now is…
THANK YOU, COACH SCHMIDT!
@ufmasters@TylerRelph10@SBUnfurled I gotta imagine that graduate is the correct one here… Schmidt had 15+ years of getting guys across the finish line and prior to the NIL era - it didn’t feel like there was a retention issue. Would be curious if @SBUnfurled could help us find this answer?
