"We saw the dumbest basketball team in the history of civilization. We saw they had a 25 pt lead and took 8 straight threes. That was some of the most mismanaged stupid basketball..."
-- Charles Barkley on the Spurs' meltdown.
@DMacSportsCO@AltitudeSR “Genius has its limitations. Stupidity is not thusly handicapped” Feels appropriate after one of the single dumbest performances in sports history.
@aStrayPancake@nuggetsfan9717 All fair. Just saying no young team in the history of the nba has ever choked on this level and played so epically stupidly to cause it. This is a new level of dumb the nba has never seen.
@nuggetsfan9717 The thunder are young. And none of them are that epically stupid. Most high school kids know how to close that game. This was borderline fire able offense for the coach. One of the top ten most epic chokes of all time.
@byesline While entertaining. Watching one team shit the bed for the whole first half just to watch the other take repeated dumps in their own hands for the second is not a great basketball game. It was a tragedy of epically stupid play in opposing halves.
@Romi_Bean While remarkable, it’s much more stupidity of the spurs than anything miraculous. All they had to do was take simple buckets and not have empty possessions. But they jacked up threes like brainless Curry clones and gave the game away.
@nhlpens Idiotically stupid play. Jacking up threes for 20 minutes and giving them empty possessions. Take a few simple buckets and they don’t have a prayer of a comeback
@VicLombardi It’s a remarkable comeback. And one of the worst displays of basketball I’ve ever seen. All the spurs had to do was take simple buckets but they kept jacking up idiotic threes for 20 minutes. Only hope for knicks was empty possessions and spurs handed it to them
@NBA The utter stupidity of the modern NBA in full display. You blow a 29 pt lead because you’re too stupid to take two points. Jacking up threes like useless idiots for 20 straight minutes. The only chance they had was for you to have empty possessions. Take the two and end it
@Tyler_Polumbus So, quick thoughts. I'm primarily a Pens fan, living in CO. Mike Sullivan was an icon in Pitt. Won 2 cups, amazing run. But at a point, his system became the problem. Didn't leverage the guys he had and didn't adapt to playoff style play. I'm afraid Bednar is there.
@LucaCelebre21 No they didn’t. They played well less than 15 minutes in each of the first three games. The rest was even or heavily in Vegas favor. They got outplayed in almost every possible way. Complete lack of playoff competitiveness.
@LucaCelebre21 Here’s a third party view. They didn’t look unstoppable ever. They looked vulnerable against LA but their talent was so lopsided it didn’t matter. They looked bad against Minn but a fluke game 4 and miracle in game 5 bailed them out. They looked pathetic and soft against Vegas.
@EricGoodman Excellent comparison. Except this staff and team had three chances to take a day, learn from their stupidity and make corrections. They made none. Just ran out same scheme, same plan and idiotic cycling structure over and over.
@VicLombardi Just an embarrassing effort all around. Coaching and players. No adjustments, no attempt to break their neutral zone trap. Just skate in fancy circles, make stupid drop passes and wet the bed when they get in your face. Pathetic
@Romi_Bean And that’s why I fear Bednar is in trouble. I loved Mike Sullivan but eventually the team was just not functional and change had to be made. Afraid it’s time. They have no idea how to play playoff hockey. Just getting bullied. Skill bailed them out in first two rounds. Can’t here
@PetersenWill@DenSports1043 Aggressive does not have to equal stupid. Letting skates of stone behind everyone is stupid not aggressive. They need to be aggressive. They need to stop being stupid.
