On 4/5/22, MODIS acquired a true-color image of #Tropical#CycloneFili as it strengthened off of NW New Caledonia. The 5th named storm of the 21-22 South Pacific cyclone season was carrying max sustained winds of 52 mph. The storm was moving southwards over the Coral Sea.

Bright blue tones colored the South Atlantic #Ocean off the coast of #Argentina on 4/2/22. The brightest line of color stretches about 620 mi southward from the same lat as the mid-Rio de la Plata, disappearing under clouds in the south.

On 3/28/22, MODIS acquired this image of #spring greening in #Turkmenistan and #Afghanistan. Scant snow remains on the peaks of theParopamisus Mountains while a wide swath of green covers a large area of at the edge of the Karakum #Desert.
This beautiful color off Tunisia's coast, captured 3/23/22, is the result of a large phytoplankton bloom - microscopic plant-like organisms that live there year-round but, when conditions are right, undergo explosive reproduction to create huge, colorful, floating colonies.

Tropical #Cyclone Charlotte formed off the NW coast of Western #Australia, approximately 522 mi N-NW of Exmouth on 3/21/22. By the next day, when MODIS acquired this image, the storm carried maximum sustained winds of about 92 mph & was moving the out over the Indian Ocean.
