A very helpful post!
This assessment focuses on the needs and wellbeing of the carer, and the services they could receive to support this.
@contactfamilies have a template letter to make an assessment request to your local authority.

Many parents are told that Carer’s Assessments are only for carers of disabled adults — not children.
This is not true.
All UK parent carers have a right to ask for an assessment of their needs under the Children and Families Act 2014.
Here’s how 👇 https://t.co/BOAZO2vzfP

🎉 We are delighted that our #SaveSocialCare petition is close to the 10,000 signature mark needed to gain parliamentary attention- and it's only been live for 10 days!
👩⚖️At 100,000 signatures, our petition will be considered for a debate in Parliament - by signing and sharing, you can help make that happen!
💐A huge thank you if you have supported us – each signature makes all the difference.
We believe #SocialCare and #SupportWorker skills and professionalism should be recognised at an equal level to reflect the complex caring tasks they undertake alongside supporting people to gain choice, control, and agency over their lives.
Aligning social care to @NHSuk pay bands would:
✅Forever transform the way social care is funded and valued in our country
✅Encourage more people into our sector
✅Tackle underprovision of care and support
✅Reduce NHS bed blocking.
✅Ensure fair pay for hundreds of thousands of care and support workers.
And lots of you believe in it too.
This week we have been humbled to see the amount of support on both an individual and collective level, so, once again, a huge thank you to you if you have signed, shared, and helped us get this essential message out there, and to the tabloids that have amplified the message too, such as:
@DailyMirror@HCareInsight@YorkshirePost@Caring_Times@M_Star_Online@Daily_Express@edinburghpaper
✍️As with any petition, the impact is determined entirely by the number of signatures we get. So, if you still need to, please will you do what you can to help us gain parliamentary attention by signing and sharing the petition below?

Thank you.

The @Autism_Alliance fully supports this petition from @DimensionsUK. Addressing the pay gap in social care is vital to achieve real change for autistic people and their families.
