There have been reports of people putting their lives at risk by ‘wave watching’ during today’s storm. Residents have been parking their cars at coastal locations across North Ayrshire to take photographs of waves and the stormy weather. This is a dangerous practice and could lead to injury as the spray could contain rocks or other dangerous materials. Read more here: https://t.co/zZhza07NkT
Climate Week has officially begun! This year’s theme is “Stories for Change”. Organised by Zero Waste Scotland, we will see how organisations across not only North Ayrshire, but Scotland as a whole, raise awareness on the importance of recycling. Stay tuned throughout the week to learn about how the Council is tackling climate change, and how you can help make a difference. #ScotClimateWeek
🌊🚬🌎The Council’s Streetscene team is backing a national campaign to prevent litter making its way into rivers and canals.
Discarded materials including, oils, fats and cigarette butts – which are toxic - often end up in waterways after being dumped into roadside gutters.
The campaign has been adopted by community groups like @DalryStation and is pushing the message that “The Sea Starts Here”.

GOOD LUCK!! To everyone receiving their exam results tomorrow, particularly to the other students in the campaign who went above and beyond during exam season, studying for Their exams and helping save our libraries!
Today some of our MSYPs and climate change ambassadors supported primary aged young people in the park litter pick. Fantastic to see some peer mentoring and climate action! #ThisIsYouthWork#ClimateAction
While we fight to save our school libraries here in North Ayrshire, Many other libraries across the country face similar problems. The message in the video below hits some of the same points we try to convey through the campaign. Best of luck to the tower hill campaign!
Because of the general election We have decided to reach out to all the local candidates standing in North Ayrshire, to hear their opinion and what they would do as an MP to support school libraries and literacy here in North Ayrshire. We will tweet their responses on this thread
A big thank you to all pupils, parents and authors who helped us during this campaign particularly St Mathews book group members who started the campaign and fought for what they believed, I couldn't be more proud to be a member of that book group, thank you all so much. 6/6
Every pupil should have access to a library, not only is it a source of learning for all, but it is also a source of enjoyment which can enrich and enhance every community!

We need your support, As councillors get ready for their next council meeting, we need people to email, call or write to their local councillors to make sure they hear the voice of young people and vote to save our libraries.

Libraries are a crucial part of our education, and can often help young people get into volunteering, empowering young people to make change! @NAC_Education @marieSNP @jcullinane86
This is why school libraries matter. Anyone can see the impact they have on our education, they help expand our knowledge and offer a safe space for all, this is why we need to save them. @LiamMcIlvanney thanks so much for your support. 1/2
It's exams season now so we will still be campaigning to save our libraries, but be focusing on our exams as well. Although we will make sure the council knows that pupils think that getting rid of our librarians is a mistake
Yesterday the council seemed quite surprised when members of our group turned up to a council meeting to show how serious our group is when it comes to our libraries! #YouthEmpowerment#youthaction#Reading
A small group of us had a fantastic morning talking to @WestFM about saving our school libraries and what will happen to them if we don't save them. #Youthaction
