@ArtOfPilgrim Its obvious how this saves a ton of time when making new areas, and lets you reuse terrain tools & props much more easily.
Even if it was more expensive it would still be immensely worth it.
yes, i know we just witnessed $150 million worth of military equipment blow up on the tarmac but it looked like the jets were having sex briefly so it's worth every penny
anyone with taste more esoteric than me is a circlejerking schizophrenic. anyone with taste less esoteric than me is a slop producing brainrot consumer
@LostScug I think the divide is because this boss is extra easy on standard/violent and extra hard on Brutal
I died like 10 times to this thing and only 1 time in the actual level when playing on brutal. I have no idea how to fight him normally i just stay up and dps race
@NotRenjiro@S0ulSuper@Pumpkiwami its not even an excuse, i just dont know what else you expect
like good luck making "cool level that can confuse people and get them lost for fun" that is also fool-proof in terms of nobody getting TOO lost
@NotRenjiro@S0ulSuper@Pumpkiwami like theres pretty blatantly that one shutter door you cant immediatelly access, ideally you keep that in your mind and remember it when you come across it when its time to open it
@NotRenjiro@S0ulSuper@Pumpkiwami most people did not spend that long. you kind of have to make sacrifices, if you want most people to have a reasonable time in the confusion you need them to be lost, some will struggle harder
like its not really the games' 'fault' you spent 30 minutes in 8-2
@Pumpkiwami how do you believe "confusing design" is a negative
like what the hell do you think it was supposed to be?? Its incredibly amusing the first time around and pretty straightforward/intuitive on replays. If it WASNT confusing that would be so disappointing
@c_rastrelly@spnidelman@bellbearinghunt like seriously. do you actually think 'using and altering the fiery mountain assets they already have' even remotely compares to the huge ass effort from 99999 people of different roles that is required to plan and place the entire transition to iron keep in this place?
@c_rastrelly@spnidelman@bellbearinghunt it just doesnt make sense, its impossible to miss that through negligence. and ds1&2 often have such comically cheap looking assets for hinting distant areas so it would be trivial for them to add something
they probably just thought the crazy sudden transition was interesting
@c_rastrelly@spnidelman@bellbearinghunt a decision like this isnt done instantly on a whim, even in a rushed game. the time and effort it takes to fix this thing is minuscle compared to the overall effort it takes to set up this entire area being in this particular location of the game. theyd do it if they wanted it
