Meet Lance Naik Meenatchi Sundaram A.

A soldier who took a bullet on his face and still refused to stop.

On 19 December 2024, he was part of a counter-terrorist operation in Kulgam, South Kashmir.

He belongs to the Regiment of Artillery and was serving with 34 Rashtriya Rifles.

During the intense firefight, he sustained severe gunshot wounds to his face and right shoulder.

The injuries were serious enough to stop any normal person.

But Lance Naik Meenatchi Sundaram A did not step back.

Despite pain, bleeding and danger, he continued the fight.

In close combat, he engaged the terrorist with exceptional courage.

He neutralised one hardcore terrorist at close range.

His bravery helped his team and contributed to the success of the operation.

For this extraordinary act of courage, he was awarded the Kirti Chakra.

The Kirti Chakra is India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award.

On 8 June 2026, President Droupadi Murmu presented him the award at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

His citation praised his indomitable spirit and exceptional bravery.

Lance Naik Meenatchi Sundaram A proved that courage is not the absence of fear.

It is the will to complete the mission despite injury, pain and danger.

He took a bullet on his face.

But he stood like a man of steel.

And he showed the nation what the Indian Army is made of.

The First Ever All India NCC Basic Paramotor Course concludes at NIMAS Centre, Guwahati on 04 Jun 2026.

50 Novice cadets trained for 15 days with Passion in Heart & Fire in belly in ground handling, powered flight & navigation. Fearless and adventurous cadets from ground zero undertook minimum five solo flights each - NCC cadets touched the sky. The NCC also provided these cadets with all the apparels and were bestowed with Course Certificates.

Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhry assumed charge as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command on 01 Jun 2026. Commissioned into the Fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in Dec 1989, he brings vast operational and leadership experience. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Southern Air Command.

He succeeds Air Marshal B Manikantan, who superannuated on 31 May 2026 after rendering four decades of distinguished service.

On Day 2 of the Cadets Friendship Festival in Russia, the NCC delegation attended a vibrant opening ceremony showcasing the rich culture, traditions and patriotic spirit of the Stavropol region through captivating folk songs, dances and cultural performances.

NCC Leadership Excellence: ANOs Conclave Illuminates Path Forward!

Under the aegis of West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate the ADG West Bengal and Sikkim Directorate presided over a significant ANOs conclave bringing together 130 ANOs, CTOs and GCIs from Kol C Group at the NCC Training Institute. The two-session event delved into critical areas including gender sensitivity, new topics in the revised precis, conduct of camps and the pivotal role of ANOs and GCIs.

An informative lecture on diverse officer and other ranks entry schemes including the Agniveer initiative was delivered by the DDG, Recruiting Zone Kolkata. This conclave stood as an unparalleled triumph marked by profound discussions strategic insights and renewed commitment to leadership development setting the gold standard for excellence in the forthcoming training year.

Operation Sindoor: Igniting Patriotism in Young Hearts 🇮🇳

As part of the activities planned during CATC to commemorate the Anniversary of Op Sindoor, a captivating lecture cum presentation was delivered by Brig Neeraj Bisen, Cdr 59 Arty Bde for the Cadets of 16 Ben Bn NCC under the aegis of West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate. The insightful session illuminated the valour and strategic brilliance of the Indian Army’s resolute response instilling profound pride in the Nation and its Armed Forces among the young cadets. 

A demonstration of New Generation Equipment including Drone Flying was conducted providing the cadets an invaluable opportunity to experience drone operations firsthand. This dynamic event not only highlighted contemporary military capabilities but also inspired the next generation with a deep sense of national honour and readiness.
