"To achieve housing justice and end homelessness, we believe that policies should redress the ongoing legacy of colonialism and racism, and services should be trauma-informed, person-centered, and based on self-determination." https://t.co/Sy8gDFdgup
This week, Congress plans to pass the spending bill for fiscal year 2023. Federal housing investments are included. As we say, show me your budget & I’ll tell you what you’re prioritizing. So let’s take a look at the housing provisions: https://t.co/JhTZgcruK5
Through authentic partnership with people with lived expertise, we can co-create pathways to achieve housing justice and a future where housing is a human right for all.
NCHJ members are encouraged by the agency’s leadership through the Plan which promotes an evidence-based Housing First approach that includes housing and supports, choice, and voice: https://t.co/ztIPFzYcxX
We appreciate the plan’s focus on expanding housing supply and look forward to working with the Administration and Congress to realize that goal and focus on a sufficient supply of quality housing that is affordable to people with the lowest incomes.
Who else got up at 3am to read the final FY23 spending bill? I'm glad I did because HUD received significant funding increases compared to last year - about $6.5B more (depending on what you're looking at). NLIHC's analysis will be out soon, but here's a preview.
Pursuing housing justice includes supporting staff — many of whom are BIPOC and have lived experience of homelessness — who work on the front lines of our field with fair wages that can support living in safe and stable housing.
Our statement: https://t.co/E4ScxhKWCi
Proud to stand with our colleagues @NCHJustice in welcoming @jeffolivet in his new role @USICHgov, and in naming disparities in racial diversity and leadership with lived expertise across our field as a barrier to moving toward a future of housing justice.

Today, NCHJ released the following statement on the appointment of @jeffolivet to @USICHgov. We look forward to working in true partnership — holding ourselves and USICH accountable — in moving the nation towards housing justice.

Former HUD staff support the HoUSed campaign's top priorities for Build Back Better: rental assistance, public housing, and the Housing Trust Fund! Thanks!
These folks know well the stakes of federal inaction on housing and homelessness, and the difference that action and aggressive investments can make for the American people. Congress & the Biden Administration should wisely follow their lead.
Nearly 40 former staff members of HUD sent a letter to @POTUS@SpeakerPelosi@SenSchumer urging them to protect housing investments in #BuildBackBetter.
"This moment in history (is)...a once-in-a-generation opportunity" https://t.co/MxXzPyykGP
Thanks to the members of @NCHJustice for making this happen & to former HUD leaders advocating for housing justice in #BuildBackBetterAct

As noted in @business, we are calling on Congress to ensure funding for housing and homelessness is not cut from #BuildBackBetter. Rental assistance, public housing & the Housing Trust Fund serve the country's lowest-income and most marginalized households
