To JJ and @scottcoleman55 point, using Sale may not have been needed.
But the reason the Braves have given Sale extra rest all season and been cautious with his usage is to have the flexibility to feature him as needed in the postseason.
It is Sale’s preference as well
@jonbecker_ I don't know, maybe you should check what Sale himself had to say about pitching this weekend after last night. You are reading way to much into manager talk vs a grown adult saying he's pitching this weekend and last night doesn't change that.
@mango_deuce@mlbbowman After Gm 2, Weiss wasn’t going to risk it. Sale ambushed him in his office, told him he felt great, and was ready to pitch. Your bullpen had cost you the game the previous day, even if it was mismanagement by Walt. He wasn’t going to go to Lee again against Harper. Not a big deal
@mango_deuce@mlbbowman Do you think Sale didn't pitch on regular rest because he couldn't / can't? No. It was all about the post season and keeping him healthy for the post season and giving him extra rest then so he could go on Short Rest now.
@mango_deuce@mlbbowman Lol asking AI 🤣
It was a throw day.
Chris Sale wanted to pitch and went and told his manager he was good to pitch.
Chris Sale said he is pitching Sunday
So why in the hell are you still arguing about this? You're wrong either way bro.
Asked Chris Sale if tonight's appearance will affect his availability for Sunday's Game 2. He said, "If I had to pitch tomorrow, I'd be ready." He was sitting in Walt's office this afternoon ready to tell his manager he was ready to pitch tonight.
