More than 1.2m acre-feet of #groundwater recharge was permitted by State Water Board, more than 400,000 acre-feet of flood #water was diverted and millions more acre-feet of managed and natural recharge was achieved by local actions in the 2023 Water Year.
We had a dry start to 2024, but storms bolstered snowpack & reservoir conditions. PCWA's manual snow surveys showed unusually average results--and average is good! 123% SWE in April, 84% in May, and combined reservoir storage at 97% of avg. Forecasts ~100% of avg. #CAWater
It's #NationalWetlandsMonth! Wetlands are critical habitats for many fish and bird species. Plus they help filter the groundwater that we use to drink and protect us from storm damage and floods!
Happy American Wetlands Month!
Not only are these highly productive and diverse ecosystems beautiful, but they also recharge groundwater, reduce flooding, supply clean drinking water, support wildlife and provide incredible recreational opportunities.
