๐จ๐ฑ Chile is advancing implementation of its NDC 3.0 by identifying innovative climate finance mechanisms for the land-use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) sector.
Chile's @conaf_minagri recently concluded a series of participatory workshops that brought together ministries, public agencies, organizations and private sector actors to explore how new financing solutions can support the country's forest and climate goals.
The process enabled CONAF to examine a diverse portfolio of proposals โ including legislative reforms, private capital mobilization approaches and territorial implementation tools โ generating key inputs for a medium- and long-term roadmap for the sector.
Through the NDC Partnership, the @GWPnews supported CONAF in exploring and assessing financing mechanisms for the LULUCF sector, while the NDC Partnership's in-country facilitator helped coordinate partners and align support with national priorities.

40% of the world's food supply is lost or wasted. Reducing food loss and waste presents a major opportunity for countries to cut emissions, strengthen food security and advance climate goals.
As part of the NDC Partnership's Raising Ambition through Partnership (RAP) webinar series, the NDC Partnership Support Unit and Global Action Drive (GAD) partners convened experts from @foodbanking, @FoodForwardSA, @WRAP_NGO and @World_Wildlife to explore how countries and organizations are turning commitments on food loss and waste reduction into action.
Key takeaways included:
โ Countries are integrating food loss and waste reduction into their NDCs. Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile and Paraguay have formally included food banking as a climate mitigation measure.
โ Public-private partnerships can help scale action across the food system. Through the South African Food Loss and Waste Initiative, Tiger Brands reported a 50% reduction in food waste over five years.
โ City-level interventions offer significant potential for reducing food loss and waste. WWF's work in Merauke and Jayapura, Indonesia, projects up to a 62% reduction in food loss and waste under best-case intervention scenarios.
โ While proven models for reducing food loss and waste exist, finance remains a key barrier. Blended investment from governments, MDBs and the private sector is needed to scale solutions and drive systemic change.

Climate and development goals are deeply interconnected. Realizing both depends on how effectively #NDCs are put into practice.
This means embedding climate goals into national plans, budgets and sectoral policies, while ensuring coordination across government. It also means engaging youth, women, Indigenous Peoples and local communities in decision-making and implementation so climate action reflects local needs and priorities.
How can countries put these approaches into practice?

Today, @beyondoilgas and the NDC Partnership announced new support for Global South countries planning their transitions away from oil and gas.
Alongside this, Kazakhstan, Chad and Trinidad and Tobago established new programs under the BOGAโNDC Partnership collaboration to advance action on their transitions and strengthen NDC planning and implementation. For all three countries, oil and gas production and revenues play a central role in their economies.
While momentum on the transition away from fossil fuels continues to grow, most governments have yet to develop clear, actionable pathways to achieve their stated commitments to the transition.
This collaboration will help turn that ambition into action.

#SB64 in Bonn is a moment for NDC Partnership members to come together to compare notes, work through shared challenges and focus on what countries need to move #NDCs forward.
Across conversations โ from unlocking finance to strengthening coordination and aligning near- and long-term goals โ the message remains consistent, in Bonn and beyond: Progress depends on support shaped by country priorities.
What's different now is where countries stand. Stronger NDCs provide the foundation for targeted, effective support to go even further.

๐ฒ๐ฌ Madagascar's NDC 3.0 is taking shape.
National stakeholders recently came together to validate the country's updated NDC โ a process led by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MEDD), with support from @UNDP through the NDC Partnership.
The NDC draws on consultations across the country, bringing in government, local authorities, the private sector, civil society, academia and development partners.
For a country highly exposed to climate impacts, that kind of broad ownership is exactly what the next phase of climate action needs, creating a clear pathway for partners to come together in support of Madagascarโs priorities.

At the NDC PartnershipโUNFCCC Secretariat annual member reception in Bonn, one message came through clearly: The NDC Partnership has been catalytic in mobilizing the support countries need to deliver.
Progress is real โ from clean energy in Namibia, to transport planning in Costa Rica to waterโenergyโfood nexus approaches in Pakistan that generate climate, economic and social benefits. But scaling this progress will require even stronger collaboration. No country can do it alone.
With 270 members, the NDC Partnership provides a platform for countries to access the specialized expertise they need to advance their priorities.

โ๏ธ How are countries approaching a #JustTransition, and where is more support needed?
New resources from the NDC Partnership Support Unit shed light on how developing countries are integrating just transition considerations into their NDC processes and where key gaps remain.
Across the NDC Partnership, 83 developing countries have submitted just transition-related requests. These span workforce reskilling, social protection, engagement with labor groups and sectoral assessments. 38% of requests remain unsupported, pointing to opportunities to further scale up support.
The findings suggest countries are treating just transition as a crosscutting issue, not limited to individual sectors. Demand is particularly strong for:
๐ฑ Green skills development to prepare workforces for economic shifts
๐ค Inclusive processes and social dialogue that engage workers and communities
๐ก๏ธSocial protection and pathways to decent work
At the same time, gaps in data collection, monitoring systems and institutional capacity for just transition strategies continue to shape what countries can put in place.
There are also practical entry points countries can adapt to their national context, including stronger procedural justice mechanisms that give impacted communities a real voice and clearer approaches to sharing costs and benefits more fairly.

๐ณ๐ช Niger has taken a key step toward finalizing its NDC 3.0.
This month, 130 representatives from line ministries, subnational actors, local authorities, multilateral institutions and embassies convened in Niamey to review and validate the updated NDC.
Validating the NDC with a broad range of stakeholders is essential to ensuring it reflects national priorities and can be implemented effectively.
As climate impacts intensify across the Sahel โ affecting food security, water resources and livelihoods โ Niger aims to advance a more resilient, inclusive and implementation-focused response to climate change through measures defined in the NDC.
During the workshop, participants reviewed the document, shared their input and validated the final version through a participatory and consensus-based process.
The workshop was led by the Ministry of Environment, Hydraulics and Sanitation, in collaboration with @UNEP, and supported by the NDC Partnership through the Partnership Action Fund (PAF), which is supporting wider efforts to advance the NDC revision process.
