Eighty years ago, Germany surrendered to the Allies, bringing the war to an end in Europe. Our victory would not have been assured without the millions of Americans who answered the call to serve their country, and we owe a debt of gratitude to our World War II veterans.

On this, the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, we honor the memories of the six million Jewish people who were killed and the many other countless victims with the promise that we will #NeverForget and #NeverAgain.

This morning, NDVA Director John Hilgert joined @TeamPillen and Major General Craig Strong, Adjutant General of the @NENationalGuard, for a proclamation signing to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. Read the Governor's proclamation below.
It was an honor to meet the family of Medal of Honor recipient PVT Robert Booker (WWII) of Callaway, NE, before their flight. The @USArmy’s M10 Booker Combat Vehicle is named after both him and Distinguished Service Cross recipient SSG Stevon Booker (OIF).
Meet 92, year old Rose Booker Hirsch from Broken Bow. Rose & 14 family members were invited by @USArmy to a special ceremony in honor of her brother Robert, who earned the Metal of Honor in 1943. The Army will be naming their newest combat vehicle in honor of Robert Booker.

NSP Pilots were also extremely busy, including airlifting people to safety and even delivering blood to hospitals that weren't accessable by road because of the #2019Floods. These are all images from #TodayIn2019.
