Ran YES on 305 in Fall '22. Helping Denver families stay housed by providing legal counsel to those facing unjust evictions from corrupt corporate landlords 🌄
Although we are disappointed 305 didn’t pass, we are proud of our campaign and the power we built to fight for tenant rights in Denver. As we catch our breath and plan future efforts, we want to extend our gratitude for everyone involved and share how people can stay plugged in.
white dems: I hate seeing the encampments everywhere, we need to fix this!
*common sense ballot measures implementing basic eviction protection to keep people housed*
white dems: no not like that
@ERAtenants have been leading an inspiring, hard-fought campaign in Multnomah County (Portland, OR) to win what NEWR advocated for in Denver - a right to counsel for tenants facing eviction!

Okay. It’s time to get serious. Evictions are extremely harmful to our community. And Multnomah County isn’t doing enough to reduce evictions.
Last year 9% of tenants had legal representation in eviction court, and this year the numbers are looking even worse.
The single biggest predictor of eviction is a child in the home.
Keep mothers housed, vote yes on Measure 26-238.
Renters’ rights are women’s rights. Happy Mother’s Day.

Colorado State Senators are adding a BigPharma workaround that makes the EpiPen affordability program in HB23-1002 less effective. (1/13) https://t.co/wm8isVylHN
@OllieRice212@javier_mabrey moratorium has been over for well over a year now in case you weren't aware... thousands of evictions each month. Don't know much about board games, we're talking about families having roofs over their heads
1195 evictions filed in Denver in March. Highest month in at least the last five years.
NEWR volunteers and allies havent stopped fighting for renter protections. You can support @javier_mabrey’s Just Cause bill, by writing to your state senator today! https://t.co/u0AyolOQHN
In March, there were 1,195 eviction filings in Denver- a 5 year record. That’s nearly 3,000 people dragged into court because they can’t pay rent or because their lease is expiring and they have nowhere to go. 3,000 people in Denver! In one month!
Just Cause Eviction protections secure a future where no family has to live in fear of being unjustly evicted.

Black female renters were filed against for eviction at double the rate (or higher!) of white renters in 17 states—including Oregon—(2012-2016 data)
Eviction representation is gender justice and racial justice

This legislative session, we need to demand legislators to pass HB-1171, which will protect residents, lower evictions and promote the wellbeing of CO families. Learn more about the bill! #coleg#copolitics

🧵 There are 0️⃣ renters on City Council — but 50% of Denver residents & 70% of my D10 neighbors are renters, like me!
I’ll fight for a multi-pronged solution to Denver’s housing crisis to make sure there are homes for our neighbors at every income level:
You can't call the justice system fair if there are people who can't afford to take time off work or pay for a lawyer. Justice isn't supposed to favor those who can afford representation.
