@TaraAshleyOBr For me personally, “play based” and “playful” learning are not enough. Unless the power hierarchy is being examined & power is intentionally being shared- playfulness is just a tactic for coerciveness. I hope Consent based, self directed education will become accessible to all

I wish more elementary teachers would learn about Early Childhood practices, play, and self directed learning and that they would make their way all the way up! The “innovative” practices people are dreaming of actually already exist!

I wish more middle and high school teachers would look to elementary school teachers for guidance on learner-centered practices. If it works with elementary school students, it will likely work with high school students.

How does #play help #selfregulation ?
When we play, we can try out different ways of being in the world. We learn flexibility and adaptability. If we don’t have something we need for a game, we can improvise, pretend. Play pushes boundaries. #earlychildhood #EYFS
