The National Fireworks Association mourns the unexpected passing of Howard Fry on February 20, 2026. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. We will honor his legacy and contributions at the 2026 Expo.
Supreme Court Strikes Down Tariffs
We are working hard to prepare an impact statement to share with the active membership. This update will include everything we know as it relates to the current, future, and retroactive impacts on fireworks commerce.
We’ve never stopped monitoring the tariff situation and have continued building relationships in D.C. The increased burdens on fireworks importers will be met with swift action from the industry to fight for a sensible and fair exemption for a trade that is irreplaceable.
The National Fireworks Association is aware that President Trump has threatened to place an additional 100% tariff on most imports coming from China by or before November 1st, 2025. Although the White House has not put out any guidance or confirmation of this action, the NFA in conjunction with the collaborative Tariff Team is actively seeking clarification and answers as to how & when this situation will effect our members. As soon as we have confirmed and factual information we will share it with the membership. The earliest we expect to have an update is Tuesday October 14th, but we will certainly provide any additional details as soon as we receive them. If we learned anything from the fallout of Liberation Day in April, it is that things change fast and the coming days & weeks will likely be unpredictable. #saveourfireworks #tariffs #AmericaFirst #saveamericanfireworks #TrumpTariffs #America250 #Fireworks #fireworkssafety

It’s been three weeks and counting since production of fireworks for the USA has stopped. With production schedules full for other countries, the window is closing on making enough goods to satisfy demand for 2026. #TrumpTariffs#SaveOurFireworks

"The president also said he is 'going to take a look at' tariff exemptions for some US companies and will decide 'on instinct.''' 🤣😬 https://t.co/jvf70kUZCm

Today, April 3, we’ve sent an urgent letter to President Trump requesting an exemption from the 54% tariff rate on fireworks. This isn’t just about fireworks; it’s about preserving our 4th of July celebrations, America’s upcoming 250th Anniversary, and supporting small family businesses and consumers. 🇺🇸
Your voice will be critical in this effort. Stay tuned for a call to action coming later today on how YOU can help defend the firework industry!

For all of our members, at this time our understanding is that Fireworks will be imposed 20% existing tariff + 34% reciprocal tariff + 5.3% standard duty which equals a 59.3% import tax on our commodity. #Trump#Fireworks#TradeWar#LiberationDay#AmericaFirst
